Hi this is the first time I've contributed. I started 3 weeks ago and lost 5 lbs really quickly but have stalled - and I'm finding it hard to keep going - I know I'm falling into old beliefs around my ability to do this. I thought I was really determined this time. For me its all about the psychology and deep seated beliefs about being overweight (my destiny).
I am 5 3" and started on 168lbs with the aim of losing 28lbs. The first few weeks were easy and I didn't feel hungry so I don't know why I now do and I am finding myself thinking about food - alot. Any tips on how to keep going when the negative mindset is kicking in.

5lbs in 3 weeks is actually a good start. WHat do you have your MFP goals set for-how many calories per day and how much weight loss per week? Are you thinking about food because you are truly hungry or because you're bored or stressed? If you are truly hungry you may have set too aggressive a goal. I'm 5'3", 51 years old and weigh 175 lbs and eat about 1400 calories a day. Activity set at sedentary but I exercise for an hour each day. Not eating my exercise calories back and losing about 1-1.5 lbs per week as long as I stick to the plan. Weight loss is not linear tho-some weeks you may lose more and others not at all or even gain a little. TOM, sodium intake, water retention, etc. can all have an effect on weight loss. There is a handy chart with some great advice for weight loss plateaus floating around on the threads; if you poke around on on one that relates to: Help! I'm not losing weight you'll see it. Ot maybe someone else reading this will post it.

Thanks so much for your reply. I have set it for 1 lb a week and so an average of 1340 per day but mixing it up so I can have some 1700 days but that means some days are under 1200. Last week I was over my goal but still in weight loss levels so it might not show on the scale yet. Also perimenapausal so not always obvious when hormones are having an effect. I know from reading on here that it is important to keep going and think of long term goals rather than daily fluctuations. Thanks x
