I'm a schizo effective depressive type and I find it hard to be motivated. How do y'all do it?

I stay motivated by being inspired by my increasing strength. In the end, you need to find your own motivation. Things are not always easy, and internal dedication is the only thing that will keep you going during those times. Hard honest truth, unfortunately.0

don't believe in relying on others to be my motivation (I.e., the do-it-for-________ argument). That places an unnecessary burden on that person (as in, if my kids are my motivation to lose weight, and I don't, what does that say about my kids?? Are my kids not worth it?? And so on).
I am responsible for me and the decisions I make. There are days I don't like logging what I eat. There are days ice cream is delicious enough that I don't bother to budget my calories, and I just eat a half-pint on top of my daily calories. Today is one of Those Days.
Tomorrow will not be one of Those Days. And I can say this because I am down nearly 100lbs from my highest weight, and I know how I work when it comes to weight loss; I do mean tomorrow, not "tomorrow". I'm not going to beat myself up for that ice cream. I'm not going to make a habit of it, either, but I'm going to get over it, and tomorrow will be better.
I motivate me. I take responsibility for myself. I understand it can be hard, but I also know I'm the only one who's going to do it. If I'm going to do something, I might as well do a good job of it.0 -
Don't indulge your own self pity. If you have a bad day, get over it and move on. The only other option is to just quit. Don't let your feelings determine everything.0

I don't think it's that easy. If only it were. I think the problem here is the feelings.0 -
Feelings are just that...Feelings. Sometimes they are legit and sometimes we come to a fork in the road when it's time to determine to conquer and fight our battles despite how we feel. I respect the struggle the OP faces, but she seems to be asking how we find motivation.
For me, and like most others, this all comes down to attitude and frame of mind. It took me forever to learn not to let my emotions get the best of me after a day or even a bad meal. This is a battle. This is a war. You'll win some days, you'll lose some days, and others you'll just break even and that's the beauty of it all.
It's not about the numbers on the scale or the speed at which we hit our goals; it's about fighting the fight and plowing through when we'd rather sit and cry. Getting up after defeat and fighting again despite our feelings is maybe the greatest part and lesson we are learning.
Screw yesterday, good or bad. Don't bemoan your losses or hang your hat on your victories. Push forward; past your failures, past your triumphs, past your feelings, and one day you'll look back shocked at how far you've come!!!! Rise up and fight!!!0 -

1 a realistic goal
2 a specific plan
3 small measurable steps
4 a realistic timeline0 -
Motivation with any of the schizo-disorders is difficult. I'm schizophrenic. I often don't have motivation at all but I do have alarms on my phone to tell me to do things. I have a schedule to do things.
I have a large dry erase board on the fridge that has the calendar of all things including all doctor's appointments, gym schedule, my husband's work schedule, and all of that. It's also magnetic so we stick important coupons/etc. to certain days. There's also a corkboard all around to pin important reminders.
Motivation doesn't work but reminders and schedules do. Hope that helps.0 -
