I've done half and full Audax events (100km / 200km) around the New Forest - what a gorgeous area to spend a day cycling.

Would recommend giving the events a go as it takes you off the beaten track and they are a very friendly crowd.

One of my ex-triathlon mates cycled for Sotonia (Southampton Cycle Club). They do all kinds of rides... shorter, longer, time-trials, cyclocross etc. http://www.sotonia.co.uk/
