I actually accomplished something...

I had reached my highest weight at 170 pounds a while ago. So I decreased the dosage of a medication I'm taking that played a part in the weight gain and started logging my calories here. I set my calorie goal only at a slight deficit so it would be practical (not feeling like I was starving myself). The result I was aiming for was to have a deficit enough to lose 1/2 pound per week. I am also aiming for small goals (10 pounds loss at a time).
It's been a challenge too the last month or so with preparing to move and living out of boxes etc.
I weighed myself this morning and I'm 168.5 pounds! I know it's very little progress but I am SO HAPPY that it's progress, given the weight gain I've put on the last few years.
Now I am more encouraged about adding in consistent exercise, too. I still use my pedometer but some days I am still very sedentary if I'm working at the desk all day. I will continue to eat at the slight deficit since it's been working for me.
Anyway...just wanted to let you know the good news :-)

Well done. Same sort of ideas as myself.
I've got to the stage where I refuse to get any larger, will just about accept staying the same, but would like very much to slowly have less weight to carry around. Keep reminding myself when I get puffed carrying something upstairs, that I'm carrying more than that much extra weight around with me all the time. It would be better to put that weight down permanently then I wouldn't get tired carrying a bag of something up a flight of stairs, and my arthritis wouldn't niggle so much either.0 -
Sounds like you have a great attitude!
I think patience and a tortoise approach are pretty key. I think you got this.0
