Hello,

I just started myfitnesspal and was creating my goals. I on average workout about 4-5 times per week but wanted to see if I worked out 6 times and spent an extra 15 minutes each day would the amount I lost increase? For some reason 0.6 lbs/week never changed despite how little or how much excersie I said I would do. Why is that?

Thanks!

Because it assumes you follow directions and eat back your exercise calories. As such, calories in and calories out don't change - so your weight loss won't change.
  • From what I have been able to tell so far the pounds per week loss is calculated off of the calories you eat and what your body would burn in a normal day. The expectation is for you to 'eat' your exercise calories and if you do it doesn't increase your calorie deficit which is why it doesn't change your loss. Some people tell you to eat the exercise calories, some tell you not to and others say eat half of them.
  • The weight loss goals are based on defecits created in calorie intake not calories burned. The program here is designed so that you are encouraged to eat back those calories burned in excercise. Search some of the topics for "eating back calories" and you will see that there is much discussion about this but it will give you a good idea about the design of MFP. Welcome aboard.
