I started a 1200 calorie diet 2 weeks ago and have lost a pound! I am getting so discouraged. I have even been exercising almost everyday. 2 miles a day. I do not know what else to do. Anyone have any advice? Do you have to eat 1200 everyday or can you pick a day to eat more?

I am by no means an expert and I only know what has worked for me so far. I have read what you are describing and had the same happen to me a while back. I was losing weight steadily, then I started to excersize and my weight climbed a little... And then stopped. I was very perplexed and did some research. Starting a workout regimen kinda freaks your body out for a bit. You retain a lot of water and at the same time you put on a lot of muscle initially. This stage lasts two or three weeks. Like I said, a month ago I started to exercise and my weight stopped calling off, but this week my body has been making up for it and I'm seeing great results. Stick with it and I promise it'll come off.

First, two weeks isn't that long of a time. You may be holding on to some water weight (either from increasing/starting exercise, excess sodium intake, or hormones related to your cycle).

Second, make sure you're logging everything with as close to 100% accuracy as possible. This generally means making sure everything that enters your mouth is accounted for, using a food scale to weigh all solids/measuring cups for liquids, double-checking that you're using the correct entry, and being mindful of the exercise burns given.

    This.

How much do you have to lose? 1/2 lb a week is a reasonable rate of loss, especially if you don't have a lot to lose.

Do you have any tips? Can you have a cheat day?

I found that I wasn't really comfortable with the 1200 calorie limit until almost a full month in. I had cheat days, and the first two weeks were definitely the worst. Just keep at it, log everything, and eventually your body will get used to fewer calories making it easier to stick to.

I would suggest drinking water if you're not. The oz should be 1/2 your body weight every day. Also eat more often, keep within your calorie allotment but have smaller meals with snacks thru out the day.
