The more I lift the hungrier I become

I've been lifting weights 5 days a week steadily for about two months now. And every time I start to put on muscle I notice I am constantly hungry. My job really prevents me from eating snacks (not allowed), but I do sneak in some nuts in my pocket for desperate times. Is it the muscle gain that is making me hungry? Or just a phase?

Are you bulking or in maintenance?

I'm definitely hungry the day after a very heavy day.

What are your stats? I took a look at your diary and your calorie goal seems potentially low. Are you eating in a deficit?

eat more food. even when I was on a deficit I was eating 1700-1800. Can't lift heavy on 1200-1400. Well. You can - but you probably shouldn't if you're hungry.

Eh, unfortunately we can't all lose on 1700-1800 calories. 1800 is my maintenance. But if you CAN you absolutely should!

More muscle increases metabolism which creates hunger. More muscle needs more nutrition. Make sure you are feeding your body properly after lifting as well as during meals. Try eating a high protein snack (cottage cheese) right before bed. And I would also suggest increasing your overall calories. Building muscle takes more calories. Your body is telling you to eat more!

How is your job preventing you from eating snacks? I can understand not being allowed to eat at the desk or on the floor, but everybody can take a bathroom break from time to time, right? Take something quick-to-eat with you to the bathroom, such as a ready-made protein shake or a half-sandwich.

Yes I agree. I'm hypoglycemic and need snacks. My work allows this because I discussed it with them. I don't see why they'd have a problem if you had a 5 min snack. What's he difference between a 5 min poop. Gotta eat gotta poop just the facts of life.

Without getting too much into my personal life , working conditions for the job I have aren't following state laws. I've spoken on the subject many times, but our professional board doesn't seem to care about our rights.

Are you allowed to have beverages at your work station? If so, smoothies.

Man the things you take for granted. I eat six times a day. If I couldn't eat at work i would have to quit'. But I agree. Lifting 5 days a week and you are hungry it's because you need to eat. Pretty simple. Time to start Operation Sneaky Snacks.

We are not allowed to have anything but water, and it has to be in a clear bottle. I'm technically not allowed to even have my water at my work station, but I can'tlive without my water. If we get audited i try to put in the back before they come in.
