I think this is my first cycle on MFP and I am STRUGGLING. I had to have a square of chocolate with BREAKFAST and I'm having repeated, insane ice cream cravings.

What do you all do at this time?? I seriously feel like I am going insane

Go to the store and find some Skinny Cow ice cream treats. Not overloaded on calories and pretty tasty :)

I have this exact same problem! What helps me (and this does take some preplanning) is to portion out some cereal (currently I have 70000000 boxes of cheerios) and that's what I have is a small baggie of cereal to curb my cravings as much as possible. And just not having thing like chocolate and bad for you stuff at my house at all

Froyo is pretty good for your ice cream cravings, the thing is portions! I'm of the school of it's ok to have one of those little fun size chocolate things. One. That's where your self-control comes in. And yea, it sucks for PMS time...but it's doable. But if you're craving, maybe exercise instead to take your mind off things, and have that small square of chocolate. Moderation, not deprivation!

Thanks, I have been trying to load up on the fruit. My problem with skinny cow is sometimes I just can't stop!! I'll eat like, three cones in a row to satisfy my PMS tooth. Seriously it's a monster.

I substitue slowly. Try 100 calorie chocolate snacks and fat free or low fat ice cream. You can also use coca powder to make your own chocolate in small serving sizes to put over the fat free ice cream.

Try making chocolate cake with diet coke only, no eggs or oil and that taste good as well. I also used diet pop with other cake mix and use fat free whipping cream for topping and it was wonderful.

Also try making chocolate brownies with diet cherry coke.

Go slow and one day at a time.

I know the feeling just went through it am on day 3 of my period. Friday, I wanted either a slice of Lemon Cream pie or Chocolate Creme pie so badly. I didn't get it, and instead had a WW dessert. That helped. Portion controlled and calorie controlled. I had a few extra pickled beets on my salad too. Once I am in diet mode I have a hard time cheating with out standing their for 10 minutes trying to talk myself into it then I decide ok, and talk myself out. Finally I just walk away. I kept up with my exercise and as a result yesterday when I was still bloated & on day 2 of my monthly friend - I lost 5.2 lbs.

Also, my doctor has told me - you can have a bad day or a bad week - but don't blow it all and make it a bad month. You can do it!! :flowerforyou:

Try a smoothy!, a lot like ice cream, and very filling. For lunch!

I do 1 Cup of Almond Milk,
    1 banana
2 tbsp of Almond butter (or peanut butter)
    1 scoop of protein powder
    ice and blend.

This will give you about 28-32 oz of smoothy. I drink 16 oz at a time. It is heaven!
    Cal per 16 oz = 194
    Carbs = 25

When the cravings hit and it's towards the end of the day, I grab a good book and take a bubble bath  If it's during the day, I keep myself as busy as possible and chew on a stick of gum.

I buy Eating Right no sugar added vanilla ice cream. 90 cals for 1/2 cup (normally ice cream is 180-300 cals) and it has protein and fiber!

Skinny cow, frozen yogurt, strawerries with non-fat whipped cream...or talk a walk, read a book, get your mind off it.

I call it "voracious ravenousitis". When I'm having cravings for sugar I go ahead and have a small treat as long as it doesn't send my calories over. My nutritionist said that it doesn't matter if your carbs come from grains or sugar as long as total carbs are in line. So I keep those lil' drums ice cream drumsticks in the house for cravings. Greek Yogurt also helps my cravings because the protein makes me full.

I just eat what I want to eat, when I want to eat it. I make sure I watch portion sizes, log it into my food diary and move on. TOM is the worst - I tend to eat like a lumberjack. I never record my weigh ins the week before or the week during. I know it isn't accurate.
