calculating calories burned for strength training ... differ

To those who do a lot of strength training... how do you calculate your calories burned? I know HRM's will overestimate, so what I usually do is log the average between what MFP calculates for the amount of time I do strength training (which is insanely low) and what my HRM says (much higher.) It's my best guess at how many calories are burned, but do any of you have a better way?

I use my HRM and only pause my watch whenever I take long breaks between sets....over 30 seconds. You are exerting yourself and increasing your heart rate so the calories burned are accurate. I push myself pretty hard so my HR can get up to 165bpm sometimes and I usually burn about 250 to 300 calories in a half an hour depending on my workout.

My HRM has a weight training setting on it and it consistently tells me about 100 more than MFP, which makes sense as I believe MFP takes out what you would burn doing nothing.
