Doing squats=thin thighs????

I have been doing the 30 day squat challenge, does doing squats make your thighs thinner?? I know they build up muscles but do they burn fat from your legs as well, any replies will be greatly appreciated :)

You can't spot reduce any area. The only thing that will reduce fat is to maintain a calorie deficit. Exercise will build muscle, but if you're eating more calories than you burn, it won't take fat off from anywhere.

Thanks @jennifer_417 ,I am on a low calorie diet, and doing HIIT every third night as well as strength training for the rest of the week, I am burning fat from every where just wondered if the squats would help it come off my legs a bit as it is a big problem area for me

You can't spot reduce. You can build strength - squats will strengthen your quads, hamstrings and butt

In case you aren't sure what 'spot reduce' is it means you have no control over which spot your body chooses to reduce its fat. Genetics makes the decision.

By thin I meant not flabby and more toned

Doing squats will definitely give you more toned legs and in turn it will improve the overall shape and look of your legs! Keep going!

Add weight to your squats instead of doing just bodyweight ones for better results

Thank you, I don't have any weights, any alternatives that I can use instead?

A heavy book/ water bottle can do the trick for a while

Lose weight through a diet and general exercise. You can't really spot reduce, at least not to any considerable degree. Squats will help build your leg muscle though which will make them more shapely as you lose weight. Muscle will also increase your metabolism so it will make it easier to keep weight off. Try weighted squats for better results.
