So I've used my fitness pal before but I can never stay motivated. I was over 410lbs this go around. I've been dieting for about a month now, first on a low calorie diet which worked, but now on a primarily low carb diet. I know that I have lost weight, though I'm not sure to the extent because I've yet to find an affordable scale that can read it. I've been using my clothes as a measurement.

I just turned 35 on January 20th and told myself it's time to change this. I'm married and have a son who is 8. I'm doing this for myself as well as family. Don't want to be the fat dad coming to his sons school.

Anyway I've really onky changed my eating habits with little to no working out. I know that I need to work out to speed things up but I haven't been able motivate myself. It's like I have the eating down for the most part, but dread the exercise. Not to mention I'm really not trying to be around all the fit people at the gym and don't really have the disposable income for a monthly fee. I know those are excused really, but this is the kind of things I still tell myself.

Anyway looking for groups and friends that can help motivate. I understand I'm probably on an island by myself when it comes to the 350+ club. But you never know. Thanks for reading.

I'll friend ya. I'm also not new, 285lbs just starting counting about 3 days ago. I cut out soft drinks over a month ago, and it's helped me really think about the things that enter my body. I also live a little or no exercise lifestyle, however I've read that diet is more of the game changer than working out. I plan to buy a treadmill and start walking and lifting once I lose a bit of weight. I feel very determined to lose weight, and if you ever need a buddy to talk to or anything just hit me up man. :)

Hello, Welcome to MFP! I'm not new either but I've been away for a while. I have been back for 20 days and counting and I am determined this time. All I can say is that anything you set your mind to you can accomplish. I understand exactly how you feel about the exercise issue. I am 36 and was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my spine and hips and I have trouble even walking around a store without having to lean on a buggy to relieve the pain. You will definitely find a wonderful community here and I wish you all the luck in reaching your goals.

Hi all. I am also new and not able to go to the gym or exercise. On one of the post on mfp some one had mentioned 'Leslie Sansone's' video on walk at home. I need to find that post and thank that member. I have been exercising with that video on you tube. It is very good and can be done. Lots of luck
