There is a spartan super race really close to me in December. I need some motivation to lose weight and this race scares me but I want to conquer it.

I'm currently 350 pounds.

I guess I'm looking for tips or ideas to help me achieve this. Is it possible? Any help appreciated!

Is there no Sprint? I would start with that one, but the training would be similar for both. Start working on your endurance. The Super is at least 8 miles; the one I ran was closer to 11. A good rule of thumb is to be able to run half the distance of the race; for you that would be at least 4 miles. Most Spartan courses are hilly, so do some hill sprints. Then work on your upper body strength: pull ups, push ups, burpees, etc. You have plenty of time to train. Good luck! I'm doing one Saturday :)

I have seen fairly large people complete crazy Beast races. Just focus on your nutrition to lose weight and start building up your running. I recommend following like a 5k and then a 10k plan - slowly progressing. Make sure to add in hills/incline/etc. Work on body strength and grip strength. Just overall make yourself leaner, stronger and faster and you will do just fine! Feel free to message me more specific questions :)
