Experiencing high blood pressure AFTER weight loss??!

I'm 21 years old and weigh 211lbs, I've lost around 15 lbs in the past 2 months and I know I should be happy but I'm not. Instead I am really worried because about a week ago I started experiencing short shocks of pain around my heart and I'm blaming my weight loss for it. I used to eat fast food all of the time, so often that I grew bored of it. At the beginning of my healthy life style change I only ate salads but now I eat a variation of healthy home cooked meals. I've often heard that blood pressure can increase due to an unhealthy diet but the opposite is happening to me. Ever since I lost a good amount of weight it feels like my heart pumps a bit harder. I went to a pharmacy today and I tested my blood pressure in one of those machines they have and it read that my blood pressure is "at risk". "Prehypertension" is the reading a second machine gave me under systolic pressure. Everything else like my heart rate and Diastolic pressure read as normal. Anyway I've always read as "normal" on those machines and pretty scared of what this new reading means. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is "high blood pressure" AFTER weight loss normal?!

Those machines in pharmacies are notoriously poor quality and are often way off. If you can't make it in to your physician stop by a fire department-they'll often check your blood pressure for free.0

Did you rush into the chemist and take it straight away? Or did you sit quietly for a few minutes first. If you were rushed or stressed it can show in your BP. I usually have low BP but have experienced high BP on the odd occasion, mostly stress related.

Not even being rushed, even just standing up raises blood pressure. You really need to sit calmly for a few minutes before taking a reading.0

Have a physical lately?0

Please see your doctor ASAP. "short shocks of pain around my heart" is not normal. There could be another issue besides blood pressure.0

If you're concerned about chest pain, see a doctor. Most likely at your age it's nothing, but could be something serious.0

Go and see your doctor
As you are still overweight, quite possibly in an obese category, you will most probably have high blood pressure and other negative health markers
That said you know how to combat this, changing your diet and losing 15lbs is brilliant progress...keep going0 -
Also be aware of "white coat hypertension"
The very fact of having your HR measured is commonly known to raise HR0
