No matter what I eat I'm always really hungry about an hour later, I'm trying to eat 1200 calories

Well, that is probably your body's way of telling you that is too low. Rarely does a person have to eat 1200 calories..especially if you are exercising..your metabolism will not thank you for it. Do you get enough protein? Fats? Carbs? Is it mostly one thing or the other? Signs of undereating..obsessing about food, hunger pains, no energy, mood disturbances, and paradoxically..stalled, little to no weight loss, even weight gain.0

That's the lowest end of the calorie spectrum. Consider upping your calories a bit and exercising a little bit more to compensate. Foods rich in protein and healthy fats will help you feel full longer. Open your diary and the folks on here should be able to give you nutritional advice.
My high-satiety foods are: cottage cheese, jello (essentially water, but at least it tastes like something), peanut butter, salmon, any veggies (carrots and edamame are my favs), any fruits (blueberries and strawberries are my favs), and yogurt. And (how could I forget)...soup!0 -
I'm quite active, I do try to mix my meals, I eat chicken bacon potatoes fish fruits, veg etc0

Make sure your drinking enough water. Alot of the times when our bodies are dehydrated it feels lile we are hungry0

Not for me it's not...
Maybe it has more to do taking the most aggressive approach MFP will let you take and eating a paltry amount of calories overall....0 -
What other high satiety foods are there and yes I may need to up my calories a bit0

I would look into researching a little about your calorie need and macronutrient breakdown (generally 40%carbs 40%protein 20%fats is a starting point but people are different and respond differently. I personally eat 45%carbs, 35% protein, 25% fats of my whole calories). And you may want to try slowly increasing your calories and incorporate some heavier strength training to raise your metabolism. You'll have more energy to do so because of the increased calories. Right now, you don't have much leeway in cutting calories from 1200..your body is used to this and you're going to have to be extremely drastic and it will be probably an unhealthy and unsustainable way to do it. I eat the same stuff as you do But currently losing weight because I'm cutting/decreasing calories on 2000 cals per day. This took some time! It is not an overnight fix But worth it and you will enjoy life so much more imo. Good luck!0

I was originally set to 1200 but I have increased to 1300. I usually eat 3 meals a day and rarely feel the need to snack. A calorie deficit is what you need to lose weight, but eating the right foods is what will keep you from being hungry all the time. I mostly focus on getting plenty of protein and that helps me stay satisfied. Plus as others have said 1200 is very low. If you are short and have a sedentary job and are older then you may need to go to 1200, but you may very well be able to lose on a higher calorie goal. And drinking water will help you to feel full between meals.0

I don't think 1200 cal is enough. I eat 5-6 smaller meals daily. I also drink lots and lost of H2O and lemon.0

1200 may be too low for you. I saw on another thread that you are 5'1", but if you are active, you'll need to eat back some exercise calories.
Also, some foods are less satiating than others. Please change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings0 -
You may not be experiencing hunger pangs, but rather the effect of stomach acid in the normal digestion process. It can also be the sign of an ulcer (what feels like hunger pangs 1-3 hours after eating is a symptom).0

If you want to eat less calories you really have to plan what you are eating carefully. Soups like a homemade meat ball soup with a small amount of vermicelli, salad leaves with almost every meal including if I have eggs in the morning, I will put them on a bed of lettuce and make sure the eggs have some type of fat.... And ofcourse protein in particularly protein from red meat and on the dry side keeps me full longest. But even with all of that you will still have periods of hunger, that's just how it goes, especially at first. When I feel hungry I drink half a cup of black coffee, that really helps the most.0
