My last cat did that - twice! There was a big cat in our apartment complex who was allowed to wander around and was just a complete *kitten*-cat. One morning, I was still in bed and hear CRASH!! and then lots of hissing and spitting. I walk out, look around the living room for my cat, see nothing. But I can still hear her meowing. Finally I realize that the open window no longer has a screen in it, open the door, and she runs in. We both hated that *kitten*-cat.
