AAAaagh OK, enough of those carbs already! It sometimes feels like they're calling me..."Jen, I'm over here and I want to attach myself to your thighs, come eat me!"
Greetings from Ontario, Canada!
My name is Jenifer and I've GOT to do something about my weight. I love the idea that I don't have to do the counting of carbs, calories or fat....this site does it for me, awesome! I have a very sedentary job plus I teach part time in the evenings which makes it hard to get into an excercise regimen, but I have no choice. My saying is "45 @ 45" meaning, I want, no NEED to loose 45 pounds by my 45th birthday on May 10th. It's Feb 3 and I'm at 202 lbs. so I have about 11 weeks to do this. I don't think I'm going to do it because that means 4lbs a week which is way too fast. I'll probably gain it all back with one bite of birthday cake!
So, in a nutshell.........mmmmmmmmmmm nuts........I need some support from this site and hopefully from some of you out there. Please say hello and let me know I'm not alone!

Welcome Jen, Good luck on your goals. This is a great site you will love it.:flowerforyou:0

Hi! You're definitely not alone. Try to take it a day at a time, and do what you can to increase you exercise every day- add some walking, some sit-ups, etc...where ever you can fit them in. Pretty soon you will be feeling a lot better, and you will figure out a way to squeeze in more exercise.
45 pounds in 11 weeks is not realistic. If you can come to terms with that then you will be much happier, and more successful in the long run. Try to set goals like: stay within my calorie range (don't go much below 1200 a day on a regular basis), eat 5-6 servings of fruits and veggies every day, stay away from fried food, and eat lean protein, and whole grains. Add exercise as an additional goal, and you will lose as quickly as your body will safely allow.
You will feel so much better on your birthday, and you will have good reason t keep going, and have your 45th year be the year that you get fit and healthy.
I am turning 44, and have 42 pounds to lose, so we're pretty close to the same goals- my birthday is only 3 weeks away, and at Thanksgiving I thought I'd be there. It's been hard, and the holidays de-railed me.
But, I found this site on January 4th, and I have lost 6 pounds. This is SO much slower than I wanted, but think can stay with it.0 -
Hi Jen,
No, you are not alone, there are millions of us out here :-).
I also agree that this site is wonderful and very helpful. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day & I'm hoping for 3 lbs so I would be at 15 lb loss in 4 weeks. If I don't do it I will not give up!!!!! It has to come off. As it is always said it did not go on over night and it won't come off over night. If we could all remember that if we would lose 2 lbs a week, in 1 year we would lose 104 # or 52 # in 6 mo.
I wish you the very best.

Thanks for responding!
I know I can do this but it's going to be hard because lets face it..........I love to eat! The problem is, that I eat for the wrong reasons and I my portions are way too big.
It will happen but I have to be very patient.
Hope to keep in touch!

Carbs were my downfall, maybe not even the amount of carbs alone, but the calories attached to them. I have replaced all of my bad carbs with good carbs or substitute them for something entirely different. I usually don't eat bread I eat low carb or fat free tortillas now, I make mock mashed potatoes with cauliflower instead of potatoes, and I eat tofu shirataki noodles instead of pasta, sometimes I will eat brown rice or whole wheat bread or pasta. Most of my meals now include vegetables, I buy bags of frozen and steam them, then sometimes I will add a light dressing to them, (my fav right now is a honey dijon light dressing). I haven't been hungry since I started this site and have lost about 2 lbs a week just by staying in my calorie range. Good Luck to you!!0

HI jen..and welcome! I'm also from Ontario. This is a great site, you will get alot of support and great ideas. make sure you use the food diary, it really helped me learn my portion sizes. I started Jan 3rd and have lost 14lbs so far! I don't think i could have done it without this site. 2 lbs a wk is a perfect goal to set. remember to drink your water..it's all i drink now! (besides the occasional green tea). Cheers..you can do it!0
