Powerlifting diet

Hi guys, anyone got any tips for dropping weight while losing as little strength as possible?

    • Pick a modest calorie reduction - take your time
    • Maintain a decent level of protein (1g/lb for example)
    • Continue with your lifting
    • Walking is recommended but adding in long cardio training sessions (like runs > 40-45 mins) can decrease muscle and increase strength reduction

    If your eating at a deficit you will not gain much muscle. However if your weight lifting you shouldn't loose much muscle. You just can't have it both ways. To gain muscle requires more calories intake. To loose fat takes less calorie intake.

    If you are powerlifting, do you want to lose "weight" or lose fat? There's a thread on here about recomping. Look for that.
