Sprint training

I've been wanting to improve my sprinting speed. If that matters, it's for soccer. I do endurance run (shorter and longer distances), but my sprinting speed doesn't seem to improve.

Any tip, article, program, etc. would be appreciated!

Google DeFranco and speed. I think he basically suggests strength training, mobility, sprinting ("don't think"), plyometrics sprinting (don't over stride), deceleration mechanics...

I've also read that heavy hip thrusts were one of the best strength training forms to improve speed.

I would guess any stuff meant for track athletes would be helpful. Daniel's has a pretty good book covering basics of running training.

I started sprints at about 9mph for 45 seconds. After working on HIIT sprints for just under 2 months, I am now at 10.5mph sprints for the same amount of time.

Alongside the HIIT, strength training is important for stronger legs. My squats have increased in volume, which I suspect has much to do with my ability to sprint faster.

I think both HIIT and strength training will definitely benefit you as you build stronger legs that are capable of faster, more powerful movement.

    Good luck!

You can check out McMillan Running. They have a good explanation of different runs and what they will do for you. The online tools are good too.
