Why am I not losing weight?

I have started using myfitnesspal four days ago. I weigh 232 pounds now and my goal is to lose 2 pounds a week. MFP has given me 1580 calories a day to work with. I workout everyday (cardio, 600-800 calories) and consume less than 1200 calories. Yes, I know it is not healthy to do that but as long as I am not starving myself I think it should be okay. So my problem is, I have not lost an ounce in the last four days. I mean, if I am supposed to lose a couple of pounds a week, doesn't it mean that I should have already lost at least a pound. Am I doing anything wrong?

Four days is too soon to know whether or not anything is happening. Our bodies are just too complex for that.0 -
Also you have to have enough calories to burn . I was doing rhe same thing with calories and work out come to find out I was burning all my calories so I needed to up my intake with protein .0

What you're doing wrong is being impatient and expecting your body to respond immediately and exactly the way you want it to.
As a male you definitely need to be eating more, 1,500 is the bare minimum calories your body needs to function.
Get a food scale, eat your calories, log accurately and consistently for 4-6 weeks and go from there.
Please read the links Dianne provided!0 -
. Yes, I know it is not healthy to do that but as long as I am not starving myself I think it should be okay.
Do you think these 1200/1500 minimums exist for no reason? Under eating has numerous negative short- and long-term effects. By the time you start feeling them, you'll already be malnourished and burning through muscle rather than fat. It's not a race. Read the links and try to be smart about this.0 -

You are a 22 year old male. Eating as little as you are is doing damage. You don't see it because it takes time for that damage to show up. At the very least if you continue with this you will lose lots of lean mass and even for a man putting muscle back on is far from easy. Eat your calorie goal, and eat your exercise calories.
As to not losing, it has only been 4 days. Could there be other issues, sure, but 4 days is too soon to tell. Basically measure your food carefully, (weighing all solids with a kitchen scale and liquids with cup and spoon measures.) Eat your calorie goal, and see how things shape up over 3-4 weeks.0 -
Because only 4 days have passed0

Stick to it! I had exactly the same problem and was so discouraged but I persevered and am now losing weight. It has been a hard slog and have wanted at times to give up but have had encouragement from my gym instructor. Don't just rely on the scales, use a tape measure and record your measurements. Good luck!0
