Hello. Starting week 2 and down a few pds. Unfortunately my biggest challenge is just around the corner. I will not be able to walk and or weigh myself for six weeks. Having foot surgery. My goal is to stay focus on intake ... Suggestion on another approach. Thanks

Sounds like a good thing to me. The scale can often be misleading/frustrating with water weight and other factors. Just stick to your regiment and when you weigh yourself in two months you can be excited by the large number change0

Take some body measurements. If you are getting smaller than you know you are doing a good job. Just imagine getting on the scale for the first time after 6 weeks and how amazing that number will be!0

you can do some arm exercises with either light weights or stretchy bands. I can't exercise for several months due to major back surgery but I do move my arms. It is hard to lose weight during this time and it can be depressing but just take it a day at a time.0

Best thing that happened to me was my husband hid the scale. It worked btw.
stay focused as you stated and be assured that in 6 weeks, your hard work will have paid off. You may be more diligent than ever to see that scale be down...0 -
I hear that our bodies retain more water after surgeries, something to do with the healing process, so maybe this is a blessing that you wont be weighing in for a while. As MindyBruno mentions above, you can take body measurements in the meantime.
Hope everything goes well, cnbiswanger!0 -
The IV fluids do affect your weight for a short time but for me surgery causes my body to go in to healing mode and I hang on to weight easier.0

Stick to your calorie goal as much as you can, don't under eat either. Your body needs fuel and protein to heal and function. You can lose or maintain without exercise..... I hated to be off my feet after foot surgery, I hope your surgery and recovery will be smooth! As someone commented before - you can do some lighter upper body exercises. One pitfall can be boredom eating. It helped me a lot to precook and freeze meals, have healthy snacks available (had no chips or cookies in the house for a while0

Oops - part of post disappeared....keep lots of fluids in reach, cut up veggies and some fruit for snacks. I read a lot, knitted, did crossword puzzles worked on computer and watched some tv for distraction. Good luck, you can do this!0

Thank you. Great ideas.0

I agree the boredom factor will be a challenge. Definitely will keep pantry empty and fruit /veggie tray full0

I also consider the hidden scale a good thing. Too bad about the walking though. My fitness goals were postponed twice from injury/surgery. It doesn't matter. Recover and keep moving.

I love that song. How are you doing?0 -
Actually pretty good. I now know the chord transition and now working on singing etc. Amazing what one can do when one is restricted . I hope to be able to move around a bit more once my foot stops swelling every time I move.0
