So I take it you like pasta but looking for healthier options? Have you tried these products? http://www.explore-asian.com/ I bought the high protein option from Costco.

I can't remember the last time I ate real pasta. Spaghetti squash is awesome - it's usually my go to pasta substitute. I like to have it with turkey meatballs, some marinara sauce, and a little bit of parmesan. Zoodles are okay... they tend to water down whatever sauce I put them with. I definitely prefer spaghetti squash.

A few days ago I tried a pasta made from chickpeas and it was AMAZING. It tasted like the real thing, plus it had 25 grams of protein per serving. The brand I bought was called 'Banza' and I got it at Mariano's. Here's their website, which lists the stores that carry it: http://www.eatbanza.com/

Spaghetti squash is quite good, although not really like pasta.

Beyond that, I don't do substitutes and adding zucchini as a noodle would seem weird as I so often add zucchini to my sauce. Instead, I keep the serving to a reasonable number of calories (a serving or sometimes less) and add lots of sauce or topping (which is usually made from lean meat/seafood and lots of vegetables, plus some olive oil). At home I often use whole grain, as I like it with many sauces, but don't actually think there's much difference nutritionally between that and white.

Why are you giving up pasta? If you watch portions you can still have it. We have it almost every week and it's one of my lower calorie dinners.

I use wheat pasta? Ever tried it?
    Worth a try !!!
    It's very filling.

veggie pastas are good but they are nothing like real pasta and being first generation american born in a real Italian family it will never replace it. I make it work and fit it in, but thats because i love it, need it, want it, and cant replace it.

Pasta is generally made of wheat, specifically durum.

Do you mean whole grain pasta? (I don't find it one whit more filling, nor do I have any issue with the fillingness of any pasta, but I often do use that too, as noted above.)

Sorry but I tried the whole squash spirals thing and it was disgusting and mooshy. I use whole wheat pasta and limit it to twice a month max. One thing I can tolerate is spaghetti squash, that's actually pretty good.

I don't want to give up pasta all together I just want to cut back on some of my carb intake and limit my pasta consumption to 1-2 days a week

If it was me I'd simply not eat pasta. Pasta is delicious and the low carb substitutes are horrible. Or, you could count calories and not restrict food groups. Options. They are a plenty. Just remember that you don't need to eat crapy food.

I eat pasta all the time and didn't have a problem reaching my goal weight. Spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight even.

    I love my vegetti!
I used two zucchinis put them on a baking sheet with olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder, when they were almost done I added shredded cheese and it was like "baked spaghetti" (add marinara sauce if you like)
When I sautéed the vegetti spirals, they didn't come out good to me because of the high water content, they became mushy.
I avoid white and wheat pastas because they make me feel bloated.

That's about how often I eat pasta. I just eat other things on the other days and don't have substitute/fake pasta. I like having carbs with dinner so have potatoes or sweet potatoes or grains or legumes, but you can just have protein and veggies or have fruit instead of a starch (carbs, though), or a slightly starchy veg that is still lower carb than pasta like a winter squash or root veg like carrots and beets and parsnips or my favorite, turnips.

I love pasta. I have yet to find a suitable replacement, so at this point, I'm resigning to the fact that there simply isn't one. I don't want to just not have it, so I make sure I have enough calories so I can eat a decent amount when I cook it.

I tried those zero noodle shiritaki things but those were like eating rotten, chewy ramen noodles. The chewy didn't bother me, but the smell would not go away, no matter how much I rinsed, boiled, rinsed, boiled and dry-fried. If the smell wasn't there, they'd be the perfect replacement and I'm bummed about it.

I'd just eat the pasta and make sure to measure and count it. I have pasta once a week, sometimes twice if I have leftovers, but usually no more than a cup at a meal (2 oz. dry). I don't eat pasta more than that because eating pasta all the time just isn't a very balanced diet.

I live in Italy--pasta and pizza are king. I limit myself to 50g dried and make a simple sauce with alot of vegetables. I make pasta almost everyday for my family--everybody is thin. If you're convinced you need a substitute, alot of people on here are into zucchini "noodles". I love zucchini, but pasta is pasta.

That's not the same as "no more pasta". Cutting down mostly on carbs is sensible when losing weight, as we need the same amount of fat and protein every day. 1-2 days a week is still way more often than I eat pasta :D I love pasta but I eat it for maybe 8 out of 84 dinners :# Bit of a first world problem. There are so many different foods to love and such a small belly :)
