1.9 Weight Loss 10 Day Streak: Seems Low

I'm tracking 1200 calories a day for the past 10 days and I've only lost 1.9 pounds? I would expect to have been able to lose more than 1.9 in 2 weeks. Exercise is at a bare minimum due to my work schedule.

1.9 in under two weeks is a pretty nice loss. I'd be happy with it.0

1lb per week seems good rate to me. (Although this will vary, weight loss is not linear)

Pretty sure that 10 days doesn't equal two weeks.
Also, a loss is always a good thing. Depending on your current weight and how much you need/want to lose will determine the appropriate rate of lose for a person.0 -
I agree with Shadowfax. If you really think you should be losing more, are you sure that you're weighing and logging everything accurately?0

I was down 4 pounds on day 6 and then gained 2 back! Concerned at how it fluctuates based on the same calorie intake each day. Scale is going in the wrong direction! But you are right....any loss is good! I'll take it!0

One big fluctuation I have is due to sodium intake (which makes your body hold onto water). 1.9 pounds in 10 days (not two weeks) is good.
And stop weighing yourself everyday if it is going to drive you crazy. Stick to weekly weigh ins.0 -

No, it's not going in the wrong direction. Weight fluctuates and your first week included loss of water weight which happens to everyone. Also, depending on your starting stats, MFP would tell you to eat 1200 whether you wanted to lose 1 pound or 2 because it will not go below 1200 calories. So 1200 calories may not put you in a 1000 calorie deficit for the day. Also, there is always a margin of error when logging. Having a food scale decreases this margin of error, but there will always be one present.0

No. It doesn't. But 1.9 1b in 10 days is approximately 1lb per week.

Give it a month and see where you are.
Make sure you log everything correctly (measured and everything in the mouth goes on the daily dairy).
Be patient. Most people don't get overweight in a few weeks and it can't be corrected that quickly either.
Last week I only lost about a pound and a half, and the same exact diary of food this week was almost 4 pounds down. Three week back I went up a pound with almost the same eating and exercise. Weight loss is (almost always) a non-linear process. Give it a month or longer and see how things are going.0 -
Well, 0.95 lb every 5 days if one is being exact or pedantic.
I did say approximately in my post however.
Main point being loss rate seems at good level and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Main point not being exactly what mathematically is half of 1.9.0 -

1200 is the minimum that MFP sets for people to lose weight. Not everyone will lose two pounds a week on 1200. It may not be safe for you to lose at that rate--if your TDEE were 2000 calories, you would need to go down to 1000 calories a day to lose two pounds which would not be safe. 1.9 pounds in ten days is a great loss. Keep it up.0

Sounds like based on this post that the ten days in your first post are your FIRST ten days of dieting. So, lots going on. The first four pounds can be a lot of water loss - very common in the first week. And, you didn't mention your starting point. 1.9lbs is a lot more for someone at 150 vs. someone at 250!
Anyways, IF you're eating habits have changed and the 1.9 is real loss after your water loss, then be happy and just learn to read your body now so that you can adjust eating going forward. Be more concerned about eating right, eating right consistently, and starting a light exercise program to assist the diet!

Give it more time. You want to see an overall trend of the weight going down, but if you are weighing too frequently, you'll see a lot more ups and downs. I weigh myself almost daily, but I only log my weight once a week.0

I would happy with that! I have been working hard at this since August. Granted I have fallen off the wagon some days, but my average has been .7 pounds per week. Very slow loss, but still a loss.

Fluctuations are normal. It's the overall downward trend that's important. I gain at ovulation and premenstrually.

As I've learned over the past couple months weight loss definitely isnt linear. You're going to bounce up and down but try and look at the overall picture as others have suggested. I was weighing everyday but since all it did was frustrate me I'm sticking to once a week on Friday mornings.0

I agree with so many of these comments, after one week I only lost 1 pound and 4 days out of that I took up walking I walked 2 mi the 1st 2 days, almost 2 another and 1 mile the 4th day, when logging out everyday I'm being told I haven't consumed enough calories I'm always 100 to 250 below my allowance. Years ago when I went to weight watchers I would lose 2 to 3 lbs a week. I am not happy with how this is going, any suggestions? I'm wondering if it's my age will be 78 next month, not sure if when you get that age it's harder.0

It's never fast enough for our liking but, that is pretty good realistically. I've hit cruise control now with my weight loss and if i lost that quickly i'd be pretty happy.0

It doesn't get any easier as metabolism slows further with each decade. Are you accurate with your meal logging? do you use food scales etc? most of the time we are really eating more than we think. Better to aim for 1/2-1lb per week loss.
If you have a lot of weight to loss then you could expect higher losses to begin with but after than anything up to 1lb a week is actually good.0 -

Again, expectations...your expectations are for linearity in weight loss...but weight loss is not a linear function, even with the same calories...because body weight isn't static. You will always have fluctuations due to hormones, water retention/release, more/less waste in your system at any given point in time, etc. Weight loss, and weight management in general is not about the actual number on the scale, it's about the overall trend over time. You're not going to lose exactly X Lbs per week...you're going to have weeks with smaller losses, bigger losses, no losses, gains, etc...you have to analyze the overall trend over time.0 -
