Is running enough?

Hello I'm new here so please excuse my lack of etiquette or knowledge on how to use this thing. I'm 5'3 and weigh 9.7 stone, I would like to lose one stone. I am calorie counting and eating clean. I am also running three times per week for about 40 mins average... I do 1.5 minute run then walk for 1 minute. My heart rate seems to go into the 140 zone when I do this... Do you think that is enough exercise? Thank you for your help X

Weight loss is dependant on you calorie intake.
Eat less calories than you burn in a day and you will lose weight.
So nobody can give you an answer when we don't know your caloric intake or what your total daily energy expenditure is.
You can run 500k a day, but if you eat more than your body burns in a day, you will actually gain weight.0 -
Agree with the message above me0

My sister stays slim through only running. But she runs 5+ miles nearly every day including one day of 10+ miles. She's slightly insane.
In my personal experience, running only for exercise never got me where I wanted to be with my goal. I think I always ate too much. I'm having much better success sticking to my calorie goal with 3 days of strength training and 3 days of cardio, including running.0 -
I am a runner. It is my exercise of choice and a hobby I enjoy. At the mileage you are doing I do think running is enough. As long as you are seeing a gradual progression in weight loss and a decrease in your walking:running ratio. However once you really start to build your base running without strengthening your muscles by cross training is a recipe for injury. Hips strength as well as conditioning of hamstrings and glutes will help improve your performance.0

Pumping iron generally gives more bang for the buck when it come to burning more calories 24/7. For cardio, it seems shorter HIIT WORKOUTS are the new recommended practice. Research the Sprint 8 program. 20 mins max.0
