Hi everyone!!! I'm Cherri and I'm relatively new to My Fitness Pal. I've found by checking out the site that I really like the "atmosphere".
So I found this app on my phone "Weight Points" and it was free and has a WW points calculator along with the list of how many points I should eat in my weight range.
I've done WW in the past and have done well but just couldn't keep up with the meetings.
Hoping to stay accountable here and hopefully I'll make some friends in the process!

Hey Cherri! I'm a Weight Watchers alum myself - welcome! MFP is awesome and has a great online community that I've found to be a much more effective than the WW meetings.
I say this because in my weight loss journey I have realized the Weight Watchers formula (in whatever form it took at the time) really ended up holding me back. I didn't learn much about the food I was eating - for example a bag of doritos and a serving of greek yogurt were the same point value (I think it was 4, if I remember correctly) - when one clearly is better for me in regards to metabolizing the food I put in my body.
I'm sharing this not to discourage you from your current plan, but to show that MFP is a great first step in really learning about carbs, protein, sugars, and fats and how they impact not just your weight, but your health.
Feel free to add me as a friend! Good luck!0 -
Thanks I agree w/you! (I'm following the points system because I find it to be easy...a normal of way of life for me) BUT I am not caught up in eating junk instead of "whole" foods. I've done that in the past and it had ultimately been my downfall!
I am trying to figure out how to add people as "friends" on here but I haven't had any luck
Please feel free to add me!!!

I'm tracking both on mfp and ww points plus. I use an app called ibites. I lost 50 lbs on ww but gained a good chunk of it back when I stopped working out and tracking.
I like following the ww system because it helps me be mindful of healthy eating like getting my fruits in and somewhat limiting alcohol- though I do still have my glass of wine every night.
I like my because it is so much easier to track, and I can see things like the amount of carbs, fiber and protein I'm taking in.
Eventually I'll probably stop the double tracking and just use mfp but I do plan on going back to ww meetings once I get back to goal. I am lifetime so then they will be free I found the meetings very encouraging and I do miss them but I didn't want to keep paying when I can do the program for free.0 -
I lost a bunch of weight on ww like 15 years ago but gained it back with kids. I really like the points but didn't want to pay weekly either. I love MFP... I have found it easy to get the hang of and am enjoying the forums and friends:)0
