How often do you weigh yourself?

When I start a diet I'm knocked off as the first week I've practically lost nothing. I've increased my water intake by at least 50%, should I wait 2 weeks then do it weekly????

I have decided every Sunday works for me, larger gains than the incremental daily looks. That is just me and I have a lot to lose so it may differ for others.0

Scales can be really disheartening and deceiving! You may have put on some muscles and lost fat, and because muscle weighs more it'll show that you haven't lost much or anything.
I became so obsessed with weighing myself that I decided to go cold turkey from Christmas until about 2 weeks ago when I had a free health check in work. I'd lost a good amount of weight and can notice it in my clothes etc. So my advice would be not to focus on the scales, keep doing what you're doing by presumably working out and eating healthier, and look for the non scale victories like clothes fitting better, skin looking healthier etc!
Maybe a few weeks into this healthy routine you could check what your weight is looking like and weigh yourself more regularly, but try not to become fixated with the numbers!0 -
I usally weigh myself the end of every month. I find that weighing myself weekly was too anxious, also finding myself disappointed. By the end of the month im satisfied0

Trendweight (my favourite)

Weigh yourself everyday and track your weight on one of the aforementioned weight trackers. They will smooth out your fluctuations, so you dont freak out if your scale shows a higher number than yesterday, and let you know exactly how much you're losing every week0 -
I way daily, however it's only because I like to have the data. I don't fixate on the number and I'm fully aware of daily fluctuations. To me it's just part of the process, albeit a very small part.0

Daily...just to have the routine. I don't get excited or upset if weight one day changes significantly.
As soon as you have a few more weeks, you can just look at the progress report and you can see the trends...0 -
Every day. Log my weight into happy scale. I usually ignore the fluctuations and pay more attention to the downward trend.0

I also use Trendweight, I really like it. I had used Libra in the past. I recently bought a Withings Wireless Scale, I works pretty well, Fat % probably not accurate but I'm more interested in a trend than a number. I weigh myself first thing in the morning and when I get home from work ( I typically have a 2lb difference between the two) as I am typically lighter at the end of the day. The scale automatically updates an App and MFP as well, which is pretty cool.0 -
My suggestion is to weigh yourself once a week on the same day & at the same time. The best time is in the morning before breakfast but AFTER going to the bathroom. Once you eat and drink, the figure can be thrown off.0

Not going to be the popular post but I weigh every morning. For me it keeps me in check and accountable for the day to make better choices. It works for me but not for everyone.0

3x Daily and I did not lose a pound for the first six weeks but did lose inches that first six weeks.0

I weigh whenever I feel like it. I stop for about 10 days leading up to, during, and right after my period. Otherwise, it depends on my goals. If I'm in maintenance, maybe once per week or ever couple weeks. If I'm trying to lose, maybe once or twice per week. Right now I'm gaining and I'll check in 4x per week because I don't want to gain too fast.0

I like to weigh in on Sunday morning/ that way I stay accountable over the Weekend bc I know my weigh in is coming up !0

I only weigh myself once in a blue moon. Scales are deceiving. You can still weigh the same and lose body fat. Scales weigh fat, muscle mass and bones. So scales are not accurate. I've lost half my body fat and still weigh the same.0

Daily. Fluctuations are totally normal. They're just something to be expected, not feared. There's no real meaning in day to day variations, but the data is useful for long term trending, which is what really matters.
It's like buying a stock and having a heart attack every time it dips down even a bit. That happens to everyone, just be patient, and if you invest well (i.e. have a good diet plan) you'll come out on top in the end.0 -
