So, among a few other electronic devices, while i was away at training, my little apartment was broken into, and my HRM was stolen, so I am relying on MFP for calories burned at this point. I would really like to log my softball game tonight. I feel like I get a good workout, but at the same time, i know MFP WAY over calculates...Anyone have any suggestions? Should i just log as softball but maybe cut my time in half to downsize the amount burned?

Any ideas i am open to? i am catcher and and then of course i bat/run and then we always have a 30 minute practice before!

Thanks guys! : )

Do you not have a previous softbal training / match recorded from a few weeks back? Maybe you could use that?

I play softball afterwork most weeks and usually just log a rough estimate- like about 10 min for every at bat and 5 for every field play I make. I jog on and off the field but don't try to 'log' that as such. I know that seems like a weird system, but it works for me.

Have you played before- if you have any previous softball games recorded from your HRM you could base an estimate off that.

unfortunately i dont, this only my 3rd game since i have been back on MFP so i just logged last week based off of MFP and it seemed VERY high! I like your idea tho of the 10 minutes at bat, and 5 field, that may work!

First of all, so sorry that your apartment got broken into, that must be devastating!!! make sure you get some mace and keep your bat beside your bed :)

I agree with this, If you don't have any previous entries i recommend this website.

I also only count net calories burned, which means you take the total amount burned and subtract what you would have burned during that time doing nothing. For example I burn about 1 calorie a minute (BMR) so I just subtract the number of minutes I was exercising from the total burn, this will give you a more accurate burn calculation, and you are less likely to be over calculating your burn!
