What motivates you?

I'll admit what motivates me is seeing success stories from others. I know it's not an easy journey but seeing others accomplish their goals, reminds me that it's possible. If they can do it so can I. I've always been ambitious to achieve any goal I set for myself. It's like a self accomplishment. One of my secrets to get me out of bed and to the gym is to YouTube a few motivational videos and speeches. What's yours?

This time around? I think a big motivator for me is people I work with. I started on 1/15/16 and a couple weeks later a buddy of mine at work tells me his cholesterol level is 250 and asks me what mine is. Granted, I weight over double what he does, I replied "As of November 25, 2015: 150". He flipped out! I honestly felt it was a bit high, I am used to it being around 125, but I did pack on several more pounds since then and I haven't been as strict on my vegetarian diet as I was back then (you can certainly eat a lot of junk as a vegetarian!) Anyway, he asked me how I got mine so low and I replied "Fruits & Veggies". Since then he has lost 10# (I am down 35#s since I started on 1/15/16) and I cant wait for us both to go get our lipids checked again to see how they are. Our talking has motivated others here, which is great. Again, I think they are a motivator for me, because I don't want to let myself down (again), but I especially don't want to let them down. I will admit, having 2 good vacations (a cruise in May and a big baseball trip in July) to look forward to is very motivating as well.0

Success stories motivate me as well, and getting closer to dropping sizes in clothing. I started out at a size 13 (juniors, a bit before joining MFP but had already started losing weight) and now I can fit into a lot of 7's. Looking at my old jeans gives me such a good feeling. Also just knowing that if I don't keep trying, I won't make progress. Thinking that in 3 months I could be closer to my goal, or still be stuck where I'm at currently.0

Painful body parts that are a little less painful when i weigh less, arthritis, hips and knees--who knew this would happen....i do read success stories and it is nice to wear clothing in the smaller sizes. The logging of exercise keeps me motivated to move.0

I'm happy to hear about everyone's motivation. It definitely makes me happy to know I can relate to so many people on the same healthy fitness life. It definitely isn't easy let me tell you, but it's amazing to know how hard we are willing to try and push! Great job everyone!0

Right now...a trip back to Minnesota for my birthday. Nobody has seen me since Christmas...I'm down 17 pounds as of today and I'd like to be down 10 more by April 15th. Lofty, I know, but it's my motivator .0

I also like seeing others success. I follow some weight loss before and afters on tumblr and it makes me feel good to see what others have accomplished. I also have a super encouraging family and it's great getting my daughter's involved in a healthy way and showing them it's not about losing weight but treating ourselves win respect and being the healthiest us.0
