Good Morning!

How do you log calories burned lifting? I see you can record what you've done but it doesn't count towards your calories burned and that doesn't seem right.

Thanks!

The only way that I have found is to put 'weight training' under cardio workouts. It only gives you a general burn and doesn't have specific exercises but it's better than nothing.

There is an option under cardio for "Weight Training". However, be ready for a small number. Sadly it is hard to calculate the calories burned via lifting. But at least there is an option to have SOME of it counted.

I log my strength training as Circuit Training under Cardio. I typically do 45 minutes of strength and it comes out to be 344 calories burned. Hope this helps!!!

Under Cardio - search for "Strength Training" and you can log it there. =) I am glad you posted this because I wondered too. I went and searched past topics and found that. Others also said that since the calories burned are over a 24 hour period it doesn't show any when you input under "Weight Training". So if you wanted to track WHICH exercises you were doing you could still input specific exercises there, then enter your calorie burn under "Cardiovascular = Strength Training". Hope this helps! Keep working it!

I just did my 45 min Bosu Ball core workout and then I did weight machines for my legs...which basically is an hr. I used the cardio exercise "circuit training general"...and it gave me my 520 calories burned. Thats about accurate for core and weights work. :D

Everyone lifts at a different intensity level...some take longer breaks in between...some treat lifting as a cardio workout lol. For myself, I have always lifted P90x style (for want of a better word), meaning lazy circuit style. Small breaks in between sets...with very high intensity while lifting. This keeps my heart rate majorly elevated for the entire hour or so I'm lifting. I sometimes burn over 700cal in an hour or so workout (based on my Polar FT7 HRM).

The number amwatkins77 came up with is a safe number, again depending on your level of intensity. The strength training under cardio on the MFP setup only gives about 250cal for 45 minutes...which is pretty low.
