Has anyone tried this or is anyone having this problem??? I love to pick, i walk through the kitchen and pick up a little of this, a little of that, whatever is in front of me to chew on. I have tried Gum but it doesn't seem to fill the picking need. If anyone else has this problem how are you combatting it. I was thinking about putting some measured dry cereal in a baggie and counting the calories for it in my daily log then picking at it all day.

Thoughts???

I tend to do that sometimes. First, I don't keep any junk food in the house (no cookies, no chips etc.). If I have junk, I will eat it. So, no junk food.
Then, I cut up cucumbers or tomatoes or apple or carrots into small pieces and keep it on the counter. I eat them every time I pass through the kitchen.
If food cravings get worse, I try to go for a brisk walk. The walk completely puts me in a different mood and I am not thinking about food anymore. (balances the blood sugar levels perhaps or may be it relieves anxiety).

I have resorted to wearing a rubber band on my wrist and snapping it (hard!) when I reach mindlessly for a snack I don't even really want. This is my second day, so far so good, but time will tell.......

Snack on some veggies. I eat meals and have an after lunch dessert snack and then a 8 or 9pm snack after i put my son to sleep. I just keep on schedule. drink water when you feel snacky.

Sadly I have this same problem, but I am attempting to keep fruit and veggies cut up in the fridge that I can just grab and trying to fill up on water! You know that semi bloated feeling you get from drinking a lot of it? Well sometimes that feels the same as being full so food isn't really on your mind. Its a struggle for me too but I think keeping preoccupied helps as well as the water and the healthy snacks. Good luck

I once saw on a different post the mention of "BLT"....That being "Bites, Licks and Tastes".....I try to stop myself by thinking "BLT, BLT, BLT" that does help....before, most of the time I didn't even realize I was eating all that stuff......and try logging it for a week you will be surprized at how much it adds up to!!!
  • Go for a walk...... but don't do it through your kitchen. Reward yourself when you get back with your favorite fruit or sugar free pudding or jello ! Don't leave any food where you can see it!
