Starting C25K 6/27 and looking for friends

Hi,

I have always wanted to run a 5K but never thought it was possible. I am so inspired by the people on MFP that I want to set this goal for myself and taste that sweet victory :drinker: . I've been reading about the C25K program and seeing all the awesome success stories on MFP.

I jog/walk 1-2 days a week now for maybe 20-30 minutes but I want to do more than that. I used to jog 2-3 times a week last year which helped me lose 20 lbs. It was the best feeling ever. However, I have never been able to run 3 miles without stopping.

I want to start C25K next week Monday. I do a bootcamp 3 days a week now and I think with doing the C25K program the other three days, it should definitely boost my workout.

Is anyone starting or would like to start next week and would like to be "friends" so we can support each other? :)

It's great that you are going to start.
Today was my first day on the C25K. It felt really good to do it, here's hoping I can keep at it.

Count me in! I have already done 2 5k's since March...but always need the encouragement to run! I have never been a big runner, but just signing up for a race was great encouragement.

My next one is going to be mid-July and want to compete it in less than 40 min! Good luck!

I just started my c25k plan yesterday. It is a seven phase (month) program since I have asthma and have to build up to the running part per the doctor. But if you want we can be c25k buddies so we have someone to report to on how we did that day or week. Good luck and have fun!

Are you guys running outside or using a treadmill?

I have a treadmill at home so it will be easier for me to use that and not have any excuses about driving to the park. Just wanted to know who uses what and if one is better than the other.

I love being outside and there is a park literally 10 minute walk from the house. So I plan on running outside.

I used the treadmill this morning because it was storming, but I think I will do both just to keep from running the same route all the time.

Good idea, I'm going to try to do both but will probably do more treadmill.

I've been wanting to start this myself so definitely count me in!! I could use the motivation and support of others going through it with me. I haven't really begun exercising in my program so I'm very nervous to start this but with this goal start date in mind I am hoping to be able to get my butt in gear and start really working towards my goals!!!

Krispy, to get ready to start the program next week maybe you could start out this week with some walking. Don't be nervous and remember I will be there doing it right along with you supporting you along the way.

I just started doing some research on 5Ks in my area and looks like I'll have plenty of options for the rest of the year so I'm so excited to do this.

I'm on day 3 of week one and love it. I used to run 5 miles a day, but then kids & unhealthy habits got in my way. So I am starting over. I have heard SO many good things about c25k, I know you'll love it and do well on it. On the site, they have a podcast by Robert U. He has uploaded some tunes and he tells you when to run and when to walk. It's pretty helpful. Good luck!!
