I am currently breastfeeding a one year old 3x during the night and one to two times during the day..
For four days I have been consuming 1,280 calories but should I be eating more to account for the breastfeeding or will i survive?

Do a search on breastfeeding and all your questions will be answered.

I searched high and low for an accurate breastfeeding and calories and came up with nothing really other than it should burn up to 500 calories a day. Now with that said, I think that only accounts for when you are constantly feeding in the beginning. I eventually added it to my exercises at about 35 calories per 10 minutes. My daughter currently still breastfeeds at 22 months old but only twice a day, before nap time and before bed. I don't count those on my calories any longer since its so little.

Oh, but that simple math I did since I am terrible at math was just to take 500 calories and count how many times a day she was nursing and for how long she was actually nursing and not just dawdling.
    EXAMPLE:
    (nurses 10x a day) x (for 10 minutes) =
    10 x 10= 100
    500 calories possible
    500/100 and = 50
50 calories per 10 minute nursing session.

Yours would be different depending how long you nurse.
I use to also use this for pumping also.

    I hope this helps.

After looking online for a bit there is nothing conclusive on how many calories you burn nursing a one year old. If baby is exclusively nursing then possibly the 500 calories, but at that age baby is most likely taking in a fair amount of food so the nursing isn't really taking too many calories off I would say. possibly 200.

I know I take in about 1000-1100 calories a day since I restarted dieting but I take into account the snacking I do while preparing food for my daughter 3-4 times a day and the bites of food I take making sure its seasoned alright or that pasta isn't overcooking and the like. So I assume that all that is about another 150-200 calories a day that I can't account for.

In saying that, I am not a medical professional at all but I think you should be alright with the deficit if you are snacking as I do.

1280 seems too low for anyone, much less a nursing Mama. Even if you are only nursing a few times a day. Even when I wasn't nursing, I took in at least 1600 a day to lose. Kudos to you for nursing past a year, btw! I am nursing my 11 week old now and plan on extended nursing. I breastfed my other boys for 34 and 26 months :dizzy: I plan on self lead weaning with Liam as well.

Weird the app said if I wanted to lose a pound a week I need to eat 1,280 calories a day lol... On days where I do more activity I eat more but this is day 6 and I feel fine so idk what to do.

Okay I changed my activity level from sedentary to lightly active, I have only been walking no other workouts.

I nurse my 5 month old and I don't go under 1800 calories. If I do then my supply slows down.

1 once of breast milk is 20 calories. ..if that helps. I find you need around 500 calories extra for breastfeeding
