My name is Katie. I am an 18 year college student. Of course, we all know about the gaining the "Freshman 15". Well, I gained about two times that. I am currently 213 pounds. I use to be an athlete, but I quit to focus on my studies. Quitting paid off me in scholarships, but because of it, I have become very lazy and gained all of this weight. I need everyone's help and support to stay focused. I am aiming to lose 55 lbs in order to go back to my athletic body type. Tips &&, ideas plz!

Luckily you are aware of it now, instead of when you are 200+ overweight and forty years old! You will have no problem dropping that weight.
Start with logging everything you eat. Drink lots of water! Then gradually add good habits as you go. You'll be there in no time.

You can do it. Add me as a friend and I will help keep it positive and motivate.
It is great you are dealing with this now. I know you can do it. I also believe that you will see results academically with a healthier body. It is all interconnected, the mental, physical and spiritual/emotinal fitness.

Hey there, Katie. My name is also Katie First, congrats on 2 things - 1) focusing on your education and earning scholarships! Great job! and 2) focusing now on your health.
My advice is to keep your long term/ultimate goal of 55 lbs to lose on the back burner for a little while. Start with something manageable like 5 or 10 lbs to lose, and set a goal of when you want to lose that small amount of weight. Then after you lose that, set another goal for another manageable weight. If you start with smaller goals to begin with, it is more attainable, and you won't get discouraged.
Also, you called yourself lazy. You're not lazy; you were just focused on something else for a while (your education). Give yourself some credit! Now, schedule a few times each week that you can exercise. Start slowly and commit to exercising 2-3 times per week, and then as you get stronger and you're ready, add another 1-2 sessions per week.
Good luck, and feel free to add me as a friend if you would like.0 -
18 and in college...I wish I could go back ten years and fix some of these bad eating habits I have. This is a perfect time to get on the right track for your body and lifestyle (everyone is different.) One thing that may help you is to bring your food with you to campus/class. Its very easy to get tempted on campus because you're so busy going to class and studying that you just want to grab something quick. Having healthy snacks and portioned meals will help you not grab the tons of junk food available. You're also welcome to add me if you like.0

Hey girl,
I'm 19 and just finished my freshman year of college also. I'm an engineering student (unfortunately lol) so I gained about 20 lbs over the year. I just started on MFP 2 days ago and its been helpful so far.
Feel free to add me as a friend.
I started reading this man's stuff on "Fitness Black Book" and bought his "Feminine Physique" ebook and have been doing that for like 2 weeks and its been great. Now I'm getting started eating right which is the hard part for me rather than exercising. I'm just trying to see how much I can loose before I go back to school in the fall.
Also- u may wanna look at the Fit for Fall Challenge. I just joined it and i think it will be alot of help to keep me motivated.
Good Luck!!!0
