Prozac, running and low calorie diet

I've been on 20mg of Prozac for about 2 months now, and I haven't had much of an appetite. I before I get hate messages I am averaging 1000 calories a day, when I should be having 1500. The doctor said loss of appetite was a side effect and would eventually go away. I run four miles five days a week. Since I began Prozac I haven't lost weight? Should I force myself to eat more because my body may be in starvation mode even though I'm not hungry? I lost 80 pounds last year and all the sudden it stopped.

Starvation mode does not exist the way you are saying it does.

True "starvation mode" is when body systems and organs start shutting down due to chronic malnourishment.
You should force yourself to eat more because logic tells you 1000 calories a day is not good for you. Food is gives you energy in the form of calories as well as supplying your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. The effects of extreme calorie restriction won't be noticed right away, but if you deprive your body of nutrients for long enough you will develop deficiencies that lead to illness. A multivitamin is a waste of money, you don't absorb an significant amount of anything in them, so don't try to use that as a way to get around eating more.

Do you mean 1000 calories total, or 1000 net calories, which would account for the extra calories you earned and ate from running?

If you are running 20 miles per week and aren't hungry, and don't lose weight, you may be eating more than you think.

I eat my 150 calorie oat meal in the morning, for lunch it's a yogurt bar and a coffee cake 90 calorie thing then dinner I have lean cuisine. I definitely am not eating more nor do I snack.

No fruits or vegetables and hardly any protein? You are asking for serious trouble - that is if you can really continue only eating that much.

If you haven't lost any weight in that two months, then it doesn't sound like you are eating at a deficit... If you truly are eating that few calories and not losing, then you probably should talk with your doctor.

This is how eating disorders get started.
