I work them into my calories for the day or save calories for weekend fun.0

I haven't had an alcoholic beverage in five months. I'm thirty pounds down with no regrets whatsoever.
Drinking alone does not make you fat. Just plan ahead, make sure it fits in your daily and/or weekly calorie goals. Don't make any drunken Taco Bell runs while under the influence, and don't drink so much that your too hungover for the next few days to do any physical activity.0 -

You don't. Unless you eat a low enough calorie diet to still be in a deficit. The bad thing about booze (in addition to the fact it has no nutritional value and often gives you the munchies) is this: alcohol is toxic and is therefore preferentially metabolized and speeds up fat storage. This means if you drink, and go over maintenance calories, those excess calories are EFFICIENTLY stored as fat. Which is the exact opposite of what you want to do when losing weight. Moral of the story is keep your caloric intake super low on days when you decide to drink.0

Yeah I've been drinking a lot lately and just found out how many calories are in the drinks I've been drinking. Let's just say I almost had a heart attack because 2-3 drinks is my daily calorie limit.0

I have switched to prosecco only - we have "fizz Friday"....so drink one night a week and share a bottle with husband! Using champagne flutes it lasts and I feel very decedent! Looking forward to it all week it beats the two bottles of wine on Friday and Satirday I used to sink!0

Yep. Drinking is why I went from being a thin guy to a fat guy, so I speak from experience. Beer is total garbage and I will never drink it again--very caloric, plus there is alcohol. Also those fruity sugary drinks are loaded with carbs plus alcohol. I now drink vodka martinis (Ketel or Grey Goose, due to high quality) and I only have 1 or 2 once in a while (as in, maybe twice a month tops). Booze and weight loss are just not compatible for most people unfortunately.0 -
I guess I oughtta break my alcoholic habits thanks guys0

I had to go from eight days a week down to just two, otherwise the weight is never coming off. Also, an (un)healthy balance of not eating much so you can squeeze calories in will ruin you. You get drunk faster and are way more hungover when you don't have the food. What others have said is correct: drinking usually leads to poor eating decisions.0

I drink every weekend, I burn over 1000 calories a day, it works for me.0

Alcohol is a tough one. Plenty of calories that provide little to no satiety and add to that for many (myself included) once I get a buzz going I tend to 'forget' I'm trying to maintain a calorie deficit.
One thing I'm currently experimenting with is a weekly calorie deficit where I start the week on Friday so i can access how much damage has been done and what my activity level and eating needs to be like for the rest of the week. We'll see how that goes.0 -
I have a beer nearly every night. I also go to the gym nearly every day...see the correlation? Just got to make it fit.0

i drink all the time and have lost 80+ pounds. you have to plan for it.0
