I am curious as to the best nutrition percentages for weight loss. Someone told me protein needed to be highest while someone else said carbs was best to be the highest percentage to lose the most weight. I am currently 275 and wanting to get down to 170... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA.

The best place to start is putting your stats (age, height, weight, activity level) into MFP and eating the number or calories they give you. Then when you've got that down you can start looking at macros and playing around with those numbers to see what works best for you. Just my two cents.

Macro split is all up to preference. Start with the total calories. Plug in your stats. You can pick the highest level of loss now in the beginning (2 pounds per week). Log your food. Weigh everything. Eat food you like, don't cut out anything, but you may have to cut down; your food diary will show you where you can cut without feeling deprived. Try to hit the goals MFP set for you. Weigh yourself regularly. Pay attention to how you feel. If you feel alright (energetic, satiated, happy), don't change anything. If you feel grumpy, hungry, lethargic, try to get in more nutritious food. Make sure you have your five-a-day. Cook your own food as often as possible. Aim for variety. Consider lowering your carbs and upping your fats, while keeping calories the same.

When you have lost some weight, you will lose more slowly; lower your weekly goal to 1.5 - 1 - 0.5 pounds per week.
