I would like to work on my stomach area but have lower back/ coccyx pain so avoid sit ups and the likes as its painful. Any tips what to do instead?

Have you tried using a mat? Squats are excellent for abs, as they help stabilize the core. Hanging leg raises are another idea, since they wouldn't put pressure on the tailbone.0

Planks and plank variations would work well for you.
You might also consider getting your coccyx pain fixed (i had surgery to deal with mine, im incredibly happy with being able to sit without pain)0 -
Great thanks guys and I didn't realise they could help with the coccyx?0
