Any recommendations on a heart rate monitor? Preferably one that estimates calories burned?

Anything by Polar.. they are the best and most recommended brand.
Steer clear of Timex.. way over estimates on the calories burned.0 -
Thanks for the feedback. Do you have one? If yes, what model number?0

I have the Polar FX-7. Picked it up for 75 on Amazon. I have only had it for a week now, but I like it. The ellipical at my gym has built in support for Polar brands, so it gets my pulse even if I don't hang on to the monitors.0

There is a search function on the top of the screen. This question has been asked numerous times and you are sure to find great recommendations already posted in the forums. Personally I recommend polar. I have two and I am very pleased!
Good luck0 -
I just bought a polar RS100 and I love it! I used it at sand volleyball yesterday. Usually I underestimate the calories that MFP says I burn by about half. So if I play an hour of sand volleyball (which MFP says I'll burn nearly 900 calories during that time), I actually enter that I played 30 minutes to get 450 cals. The watch told me I burned 504 last night. It's actually a great confidence builder to know that I'm burning as much as I read and hope.
The polar web site will help narrow down what kind of watch to get based on what kind of activities you do the most. Good luck!0 -
Polar FT40 and love it. Bought it at heartratemonitorusa.com even found a coupon for a little off and lucked into some free shipping. Polar seems to be the popular brand.0

Yep Anything by Polar for sure - I have the FT4 - love it!!!
I've YET to go to a gym or try out a treadmill, bike, or elliptical that can't read it either - just love the entire brand...0 -

I have the Polar FT7, which is pretty basic. Shows my heart rate, counts calories and shows what "zone" I'm in.
It depends on what you want it for really.. the Polars go from pretty basic all the way up to dream land.0
