When I feel like I need it. I alternate my days of cardio and strength training and typically feel a need to take a break once a week. My body is pretty tuned in right now to my routine and I just listen to it.

At least one per week, mine is usually Sunday. Sometimes I take the whole weekend if I feel I need it, or if life is busy. And sometimes I'll take one midweek for the same reasons.

I take one or 2 a week more depending on my schedule than anything else. I rested today bc I had to fast till 12:30 for some tests. There was no way I was exercising after that.

I really only work out 4 days per week. I try to take a few long weekly walks but otherwise, I rest my butt a good 3 days every week.

2-3 days per week. I'm actually adding a rest day on Tues, because going to class 4 days in a row, which I had been doing, seemed to leave me pretty tired by Thursday, and we don't have classes on Fri or Sun. My rest days are "active rest" and I try to get 10,000 steps if weather permits.

It's going to be different for everyone, based on your fitness level and workout routine. Listen to your body!

1-2X per week. They are generally active recovery days though, I don't generally just sit on my *kitten* and do nothing. I like doing some recovery yoga and taking my dog for a nice walk...or sometimes I'll just do some recreational type of activities with my boys like a little hike or something...and sometimes it's yard work.

This. Your body will tell you when it needs to rest, all you have to do is listen.

Rest days are great days to the fun things that I wasn't fit enough to do before, take my friend's kids to the beach or the amusement park, meet up with friends for barbecue and frisbee, etc. I was unable to move for a long time because of my back and I kind of became that friend who you don't call to come do things because you know they have to say no. :) Now, I'm the one who calls up and says, "Wind's up! Kites at the park, two-o'clock!" Rest days don't have to be 'down' days, just recovery days for your muscles.
