SERIOUS weekend fails

I can do really really well during the week eating right and staying strong but I always fail on the weekends. I don't cook any differently on the weekends, but I do eat more -A LOT more. :(
It is completely my own doing and I know this. I try every weekend to swear it is not going to happen today, today I will be strong and then today comes and by the days end I have messed up. I don't know where to pull from to keep me up and on the right path anymore. I'm so disappointed and frustrated in myself and yet I know starting 0500 Monday morning I'll eat my banana and get to weights and then go for a run and have a great day and repeat the rest of the week. I log everything so I look back and think 'wow that was a screw up', 'oh my gosh why'd I eat that much', 'etc etc'.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles, or has struggled, with this issue. Any advice, suggestions, support, encouragement to go on? I just started lifting weights and had a great first week and so excited to start week 2 tomorrow but I swear this weekend just pretty much blew all my hard work. :/:(

My weekends are always high calorie, so I plan for it by going lower during the week, and counting my deficit on a weekly, rather than a daily basis. So my weekdays are 1300 ish, then weekends are 2000 ish.

Perhaps look at a daily average for the week.

Sounds from your post like your issue might be portion control. Consider getting smaller bowls and plates. That way your plate looks full but has less food on it. Also as the weather gets nicer try getting out. I know I have an easier time with my diet when I am physically removed from my food source.

Consider making your diary viewable. People can offer more specific advice if we can see exactly what is happening in the weekends.

Are you eating more out of boredom?

I have high calorie weekends too. The only way I can successfully lose or maintain is to just account for them. I know I like to eat 2000-2500 on Saturday so I set up the rest of the week so that I'm in a weekly deficit or am averaging my TDEE if I'm in maintenance.

Try pre-logging your food for the weekend. Be realistic, and include snacks if that's what you do. By pre-logging, you can adjust your foods BEFORE you eat them! No regrets looking back. This Friday night, log Saturday and see if that makes a difference.

Not the end of the world...and if it keeps you on track the rest of the week, then maybe that's what you need. This weekend I was a combined 3000 calories above my target (we had guests...so it was mostly beer, wine and chips). I an not freaked out, I am reset...and I had a great time. As an aside one doesn't magically jump in weight either...I'm not heavier than I was Friday...and my progression has not stalled.

Yep, if you cut out too much during the week this can easily happen. Also, pre-log at the weekends so that you can plan in a nice meal (maybe a beer or two) on Saturday night?

Ask yourself why you do that. A lot of people just restrict themselves too much or have a goal that is too aggressive, and that's why they ultimately fail.

I always look at weekly calorie averages rather than daily as my appetite can change quite drastically some days I'm ravenous and other days can control my intake easier.

I have never considered doing a weekly average. I really like that idea because I could see it working. Monday through Friday I stick to eating about every three hours and being consistent in all I do.
Thank you everyone for all the feedback...definitely good things to consider and re-look at and I appreciate it! I don't have much of an in person support network so this is the next best thing for me!

Well, yesterday I ate five pieces of pizza but I ended up under my calorie goal and I won't do that again. I rarely eat out or order delivery so I guess it's ok.

Also I like the idea of counting your weekly average vs daily.

My weekends are high calorie also. Snacks are so accessible, and sometimes we eat out, so I am almost always going over my usual calorie goal. Luckily it being the weekend, I tend to have more time to exercise - so I get good, long workouts in Saturday and Sunday morning, and if need be another run or walk in the afternoon to get some "extra" calories to eat.

I overeat every weekend. I have a maintenance calorie day then I have a "see food" diet day. I've logged the calories from that day and I usually laugh at the ridiculous amount that I consumed. But it keeps me sane and keeps me from obsessing over weightloss. And I love food. I know it's supposed to be there fuel the body but bacon is delicious and my sweet tooth needs dairy queen every Sunday. I've consistently lost weight by being accurate and honest during the week, working my butt off and then enjoying food for one day out of the week.

The iOS app when you look at nutrition will automatically tell you where you fall compared to your weekly calorie goal. It's very nice for this.
