Meal prepping

Any tips on meal prepping? Are sandwiches good to meal prep? Are salads?

    I meal prep chicken, I travel for weeks on end so once a week I'll cook up about 5 pounds of boneless chicken breast and break them down into 6 ounce portions and have them, last about a week than do it again. I also keep sandwich stuff for lunches but don't prep the sandwiches or they will get soggy

    I prep salads, it makes it so much easier to have a healthy lunch. Chop up all your veggies, grilled chicken, eggs, fruits, nuts, etc. Portion them out and stick them in a quart-size ziplock bag, then put in your lettuce/spinach etc. For example today I had one that I made with: 2 oz low-sodium ham, 1 slice Swiss cheese, 6 cherry tomatoes, 2 oz cucumber, 1/4 avocado, and 3oz kale/spinach, which came in at about 250 cals. (Make a couple different types, or else you might get bored with the same old thing every day.) I usually do 7, one for each day of the week. Then when you're ready just pull the bag out of the fridge, dump it on a plate and add dressing. :)

    Fruits are easy too, just portion them into little snack sized ziplock bags or containers and they're ready to grab and go. I usually just portion out the whole bag of grapes, blueberries, etc when I get home from the grocery store.

    Do you have to weigh everything on a scale or can you use cups?

    Oh, also, for sandwiches, you can prep tuna salad or chicken salad, etc and keep it in containers then just put it on bread when you're ready to use it.

    I just want to meal prep so my calories are counted. I don't really need to prep for my lunch or breakfast.

    Which scale is a good scale? Or can I use cups for veggies?

    I just found this post b/c I'm new to prepping salads. LOL! I would definitely weigh everything and skip the measuring cups. I have learned that 1 cup of something is often deceptive and ends up giving you more calories than you had expected. I food scale is typically more accurate.

    For a food scale, anything digital that has a zeroing out function (Tare). They are about $20 on Amazon. I think Target and other big retailers sell them too.
