I had trouble getting anything off until I started making sure I ate on a schedule. A friend ( a Ms. Fitness competitor) told me to make sure I eat breakfast above all else. If anything, have one whole egg, one egg white (anyway you want them) and then 1/2 cup of oatmeal within 60-90 minutes of waking or your body thinks it is starving that day. It also takes 2-3 weeks for your body to get out of starvation mode and believe you really are feeding it. Make sure to eat snacks and meals regularly and drink plenty of water. 8oz is a good start but you may need more.
Hope some of this helps. I can tell you from experience, I lose weight if I've been eating breakfast. I don't when I skip meals.0 -
Don't lie on your food diary. Make sure you are recording exact amounts or you will be eating more than you think you are. Also exercise is important; even if its just a walk around the block. I count every calorie I put in my mouth. Ketchup on your burger...count it; sugar on your cereal count it; jelly or butter on your toast, count it.. Stay not only within your calorie count, but your nutrient count. Some of the food entries in the DB don't have them, so look them up, make your own entry and use it.0

One thing Ive learned about weight loss especially when your not that big to begin with, my nutritionist/trainer said that its very important "not too eat back your calories" you burned at the gym working out. Meaning just stick to a certain number of calories each day and dont look at the "NET" calories after you have worked out. When you eat back those calories you burnt, weight loss is slower and more sluggish.
It sounds like your not a big guy and need to lose like 20 or so lbs? Not sure. Its hard when your not that far off your goal because you dont have enough wiggle room to reduce your caloric intake. Like for me since Im such a big guy, I naturally have enough room to make drastic caloric changes. It sounds like you should probably be at around 1,500 calories, which would mean a 1-2 lb per week weight loss if you can excersise. It will take a few months my friend, be patient!0 -
thanx im trying0

Exercise before you eat in the morning. Your body has digested everything and when you wake up and hit it with exercise it draws on the fat in your body. When you get done, make sure you eat something and then eat something every few hours the rest of the day.0

Awesome point. I wish I was a morning person and I really would. If you could do that it would be great. Its just important though that even after that you dont over eat your calories back during the rest of the day0 -
Very true! I hate getting up in the morning but have forced myself to over the last three weeks. It's lonely, cold, and dreary, but I ripped 11 pounds off over the last two weeks by making that simple change. With those kind of results it's easier to get up in the morning!0

I'm at the same poin that jdub158 is at. It looks like I may not be eating enough calories to kick my metabolism into gear. I'm 42 and it's like a light switch went off, just like the old metabolism. I've always been thin and always able to maintain my weight. It's really bumming me out. I can't fit into any of my clothes and now it's summer time. HELP!!!!! :sad:0

Hey jdub,
I'd encourage you to track your sodium instead of cholesterol. MFP sets 2,500 mg of sodium as a "goal", but really that should be the very most outer limit and actually you should aim for under 2,000/day. Sodium can really be a factor when it comes time to weigh in. That being said, the best way to reduce sodium in your diet is to eat "clean". Reduce the amount of store-bought processed foods, buy your own ingredients and make your own food. It can be a daunting task at first, but it can really make a difference.
Lastly, make sure you drink TONS of water!
take care and eat well!0
