determined this time to do it...bit how long till people noticed

Ok so this will be my 3rd attempt at losing weight with MFP.
I've always lost 7lb and then I fall into bad habits..enough is enough and this time I am determined to do it.
ok so 7lb has never been enough for me to notice a difference and I was wondering how long roughly it take until you see a difference,
so these are my stats
I'm 5ft 3
cw 11st 4lb (160 lb)
gw to begin with 10 St (140 lb)
I am currently not exercising due to joint problems, however I am a nurse and work 3 x 12.5 hr shifts on a busy ward a week.
I know everyone is difference buy I just want a rough idea when people noticed a difference to keep me motivated x

The more you have to lose the longer it takes for people to notice. I started out at a very high weight and it took 50 lb for people to start noticing. In your case it's going to be much sooner I'm guessing. Just don't worry about it, and enjoy that one day when all of a sudden, as if overnight, people who said nothing will start commenting.
As for you, you may or may not see a difference. The brain is a funny thing. Because change is so gradual, and because you are used to yourself looking a certain way, it may take some time for your brain to catch up. I'm 80 lb down and there are moments when I feel like I have lost nothing. Just believe the scale and your measuring tape and ignore that pesky worst critic in your head.0 -
I started off around your weight, I think a bit higher. I would say the 1st stone others noticed so about 14lbs but my mum noticed well before that and I think I noticed clothes fitting better around 10lb lighter.0

Take photos. As has been said, our eyes deceive us. If you keep a photographic record you will see the changes easier.
It is often the frequency that people see you that determines when your loss is noticed. People you work with every day will not notice the subtle changes day by day as much as your aunt who sees you once a month.
Also, a lot of people are hesitant to comment in weight loss as they think it is too personal.
Stick with it even if it is slow going.

TAKE PROGRESS PICTURES
I've lost 81.6lbs and I still can't notice a difference in the mirror. Sure, my clothes are looser and I KNOW that I've lost weight, but the mirror still lies.
As for other people, I lost 50lbs and nobody really said anything to me until I told people about it. Now people mention it every time I see them!0 -
Pictures for sure!! Since January I've lost 10 pounds. Nothing huge but in my pictures I'm taking you can see the change already... my face seems to be thinning out and I see other subtle changes as well even though the scale is less than co-operative!0

Noticing and COMMENTING are entirely two different things.0

I would suggest taking pictures for comparison and not put too much stock into wondering when people will notice and or comment on your weight loss. Some people, like me for instance, I don't say anything when a person is losing weight.
If no one notices or says anything, will that stop your motivation?0 -
You may want to find some other form of motivation. People's comments may or may not come when they actually notice. Or you could get negative comments. I think it's a bad idea to try to set yourself up to be motivated (or unmotivated) by someone else's actions. You can only control yourself, you know?
A good one for me is continually carrying things around with me that weigh as much as I've lost. I've lost well over the weight of my kids (individually, but hopefully added together soon!). So I'll put my toddler in a baby carrier and we'll go for a walk together. It's so motivating to take her off at the end and know that that's what I've accomplished. I've lost a toddler.
Kind of cheesy, but it works for me.
Just find something that works for you and make it something that you know will happen when you lose X amount of weight. In my example it would be like "when I lose seven pounds, I will cary around 7 bags of flour to see how far I've come and it will feel good to drop those bags"0 -
Most of the time you won't get comments until you see someone that hasn't seen you in a while. The folks that see you every day are just like you: they don't register the gradual change. Plus, lots of people will notice but won't say anything; sometimes because it's a personal thing, and sometimes because of what it makes them feel about themselves. Don't worry about others, none of their business one way or another. Do it for you and you'll win long term.0
