Question about swelling, humidity, and exercise?

Does anybody else have a problem with swelling (like in their knee) when it's humid out? If you do, do you still manage to get in some kind of a workout or take the day off?

I just noticed this recently with my right knee (which I have had a couple of injuries too) when it's humid outside. I have noticed swelling in the lower part of knee. I don't have a lot of pain in the knee when it is swollen (like today), but the swelling does make it very uncomfortable to wear the knee brace to work out.

Yes, I will ask my doctor about this when I get back to working and have insurance again (I was recently laid off from my job).

Knees are finicky things. Be careful with extra strain during any kind of odd time with a knee. If it feels pulled, injured, sore - anything, it could be a clue to a larger injury. Choose an exercise focused on upper body while your knee feels odd, then always make sure to stretch before and after exercises. You can try exercises with knee involved if it if feeling great that day. But be careful since they are so 'fragile'.

Hmmm.....sounds like that might have something to do with the previous injuries or due to having a brace on. I do suggest you ask a health care professional and keep an eye on it closely.

I do also however seem to notice an overall swelling when it is hotter outside, like around my rings and in my feet. I just try to up my water intake to offset the water retention.

Sorry about your lay off and best wishes at finding something soon. :flowerforyou:

The only time I wear the brace is when I work out..and that is because of Bursitis. I'm thinking it has something to do with the previous injuries. I've also been putting ice on my knee to see if that helps with the swelling, and yes, increasing the water intake.

Thanks, Jen. I've got my fingers crossed and have had some interviews--which is a good sign.
