Calorie amount

My calorie intake seems a little high, I have a lot of weight to lose though. Shall I still aim to stick to it or be under? Anyone else have the same worries?

Your stats (age, height, weight)
If you have a lot to lose, then you're going to need more calories than someone with only 5-10 pounds to lose. I have 95 pounds to my goal weight and I'm eating 1850 calories.0 -
Your stats would help (height, age, weight, activity level). So would some idea of how high MFP set your calorie level and how high you think it should be set.
ETA: I see I type too slowly again :flowerforyou:0 -
When I put my info in, MFP put me at about 1900 calories. I tried that for awhile but I wasn't losing. Like I always do, I overcompensated and went to 1200. I lost weight but I was feeling unsatisfied and hungry all the time, and I noticed that on my cheat days I lost more weight. So I started doing 1200 twice a week and 1600 5 days a week and it's been working great for me.
For me (everyone is different), if I'm moving more I tend to want to eat less and I do better with the eating thing. When I'm at home and lounging I want to binge...like bad.
I have over 100 lbs to lose and I'm at 21 lost so I'm in this for the long haul. Feel free to add me if you like.0 -
Ok so I'm 5 ft 11 20stone or roughly 280lbs I want to lose at least 100lbs or 7 stone. I work as a receptionist so on my feet a lot but standing not walking now around, I put exercise as moderately active, should this be sedentary? And they've given me 1900 calories per day for 2lbs loss a week0

Exercise isn't included in MFP's activity level, so sedentary does sound better.0 -

Seems legit.
IIFYM calculator puts you are a BMR of 2129 and TDEE of 2448 if the age listed in your profile is correct.0 -
Yeah age in my profile is correct. I've changed to sedentary and it's put it to 1650 which does seem more realistic and more like the thing I was thinking thank you everyone0

Yep I'm the same height and weight as you. I think you'll see a lot of success there. :-)0

Now it's done to 1650 that's around the mark I was thinking!! I'm trying to eat my carbs in the morning and have soups and salads and lots of fruits and veggies light hot chocolates at 40calories are a life saver too!

Protein shakes help me a lot too. I find they curb my need for sweets. I like Premier Protein (chocolate is the best) and they are only 160 calories.0

That sounds good, I have a banana one at home which I like but chocolate is my favourite, I have protein mousse at home too for a dessert! Will have to give them a go0
