I've been working out hard and trying most of the times to est healthy, i really enjoy going to the gym and wirking out at home as well, because of that i've torn my meniscus on my right knee, and i was not able to keep up with my routine, which sometimes leads me to find myself depressed . In 10 days wil b my surgery and dont know how long my recovery will take in order for me to start again doing what i enjoy so much , working out..... Does any of you have had same medical issue ( knee meniscus torn) .... If so, how long did it take you to start doing squats, do cardio, kickboxing etc? Appreciate your comments

I had arthroscopic repair of a torn meniscus. I was able to walk out to my car afterwards (same day). Recovery is pretty fast. But ask your surgeon the same thing you asked here. S/he is the one who knows exactly what your injury/repair is. Don't overdo it, take some time to heal, or you'll just injure yourself again.

This is somewhat different - I cracked open my patella in August 2015 and gained 10 lbs on top of my extra 10 lbs because I felt sorry for myself and I wasn't paying attention to how much I was eating. But my brace came off in November and I am now doing the recumbent bike, treadmill, supported lunges, pilates and all the usual upper body. Your physical therapist will guide you. I had to learn the difference between pain that meant I was stressing the joint and pain that was just sore muscle. But the stronger your surrounding muscles are the better your recovery - that was in pretty well every article I read about it.

It was not knee surgery it was back surgery. 7 weeks home recovering I found it gave me the motivation to kick my diet into gear. No one from work with chips and dip around me. Maybe you can use your time recovering to care for your self in the healthy way. Good luck

Anyone who is into fitness is going to encounter injury from time to time...it comes with the territory. It doesn't "stop" you from achieving your goals...it may delay certain things, but it doesn't stop you.

The hardest part for me when I'm out for an extended period of time with injury is watching my diet and bringing it down and in line with my new activity level. I'm used to consuming around 3,000 calories per day to maintain so dropping that down to 2300 - 2500 to maintain can be a PITA.

It's been 2 weeks today since my surgery for a torn meniscus. Same knee and everything. I used crutches to go to the restroom the first day. Walked after that but still just rested for about 5 days. Within a week I could used stairs slowly. It's been two weeks now and I don't even think about it while walking around or even taking the stairs. Still not ready for running again but at this rate I'll be back to exercising casually by the end of this month.

I'm down a couple pounds since the surgery too. I think walking to the fridge fewer times a day helps.

I am still on my journey. Recovering from a broken ankle. I can not put pressure on my foot, but I monitor what I eat. Keeping a schedule and calendar in front of me. I gained all my weight back during this time, but I am putting that behind me and my future in front of me. Good luck to you!
