Calories Burned Drinking Ice Water!

Guess what I logged today pals? The calories I burned by drinking ICE WATER!!! Yep it's true, research has proven that water plays an essential role in helping your body burn fat. Water is needed for all bodily functions, so when dehydration occurs it can lead to food cravings, exhaustion and mood swings. Lack of water will also slow your metabolism, making it more difficult to lose weight.
To boost fat burning with water, J.T. Kearney, Ph.D, an exercise physiologist, suggests drinking 8 oz. ice water a day because your body burns more calories trying to heat it back up to body temperature.
How Does It Work?
It takes one calorie to raise 1 g of water to 1 degree Celsius. Typically, ice is at 0 degrees Celsius and the human body is at 37 degrees Celsius. This means that in order to raise the temperature of a 16-oz. glass of ice water, which is 473.18 g, it would take 17,508 kilo-calories. In order to convert kilo-calories into the number of calories burned you must divide the kilo-calories by 1,000.
Calories Burned:
The total number of calories burned while digesting 16 oz. of ice water is 17.5 calories.
THE WAY I SEE IT, EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!!

I've read that some where before, and yes It is interesting.
I usually drink about 1 liter of ice cold water after my evening work out, but mostly cause I'm dying of thirst lol.0 -
Um, Thanks for the info but I would never even consider logging that. According to your stats I probably burn about 100 cals a day from water. But come on.
Just my opinion.0 -
I'm with k2d4p on this one. I'm sure that MFP considers "drinking water" even part of the most sedentary of lifestyles and builds it into your program.
