Trying to find a lower calorie lettuce wrap recipe! I've looked online but they all seem to be really high in calories (and sugar from the sauce)..does anyone have a good recipe?!

I'm vegetarian, but I can use "veggie chicken/ground beef" as a substitute.

Thanks!!

I usually get a bunch of mushrooms and tofu and chop/dice them very fine put them in a pan and either put low-sodium soy sauce/teriyaki or bragg's. It turns out pretty yummy!

    Corn Salad Picnic Wraps

    1–2 garlic cloves, minced
    1 jalapeño pepper, minced
    1 Tbsp. lime juice
2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
    1 cup cherry tomatoes
    1 handful cilantro leaves
    1 avocado, cubed
4 ears corn, cut off the cob (organic, please!)
1 head lettuce, 1 Napa cabbage, or 1 bunch collards

Mix all the ingredients except the lettuce, cabbage, or collards together in a big bowl.
For each serving, place some corn salad on a large lettuce, cabbage, or collard leaf.
    Wrap tightly and enjoy!

Thanks everyone!! I decided to pull a little from everyone's recipe and make up my own! Here it is:

    Morningstar farms crumbles
a few tblspns of hoisen sauce
a few tblspns of thai sweet chilli sauce
diced grilled peppers and onion (coooked with the crumbles)
a clove or two of garlic
    water chestnuts
    a head of iceburg
a bag of julienne veggies (broccoli, carrot, and cabbage-I wanted it to resemble the crispy rice noodles but without all the calories!)

Saute the peppers, onion, and garlic
Add crumbles (or meat), chili sauce, hoisen sauce, and water chestnuts
    Heat until cooked through
Serve on crispy iceburg and top with julienne veggies!

I added it into my recipe database and I decided to make it be good for 2 servings and it is only 372 calories per!!

i saw that you already came up with your own recipe, but in case you want to try another...

BIGGEST LOSER CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS (pg 78)
    *Makes 4 (2-wrap) servings

1 can (8oz) bamboo shoots, drained and minced
1 can (8oz) water chestnuts, drained and minced
    3 tablespoons sherry
    2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon unsalted freshly ground peanut butter or reduced-fat peanut butter
    2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons hot-pepper sauce (too hot for me, so i'd would try 1 teaspoon or none)
2 packets (.035oz each) sugar substitute (ex. Splenda)
    1 tablespoon minced garlic
    1 cup minced onion
    ½ pound ground chicken breast
    2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
    ¼ teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
    8 small leaves butter lettuce
    1 whole green onion, chopped
1 small cucumber, seeded and sliced into 1 inch strips

    1) In a medium bowl, combine the bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, sherry, hoisin sauce, peanut butter, soy sauce, hot-pepper sauce, and sugar substitute. Mix well and set aside.
    2) Mist a large, nonstick skillet with olice oil spray and set over medium heat.
    3) Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes or until fragrant.
    4) Add the onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes, or until tender and just starting to brown.
    5) Increase the heat to medium-high.
    6) Add the chicken, ginger, and salt. Cook, breaking the chicken into small chunks, for 3-4 minutes, or until it is no longer pink.
    7) Add the reserved bamboo shoot mixture. Cook for 2 minutes or until hot.
    8) Stir in the sesame oil and then remove the pan from the heat.
    9) Spoon the mixture evenly into lettuce leaves and top with green onion and cucumber.

This is crazy! I JUST made lettuce wraps for dinner last night and made my own recipe. I'll share. Also, I used chicken but you can totally use diced eggplant or double the mushrooms and squash and replace the oyster sauce (it was all I had) with hoison sauce to make it veterinarian.

    Ingredients:
    1 teaspoon olive oil
4 chicken thighs, skin and bone removed
1 medium yellow squash diced (about 2 cups)
1 medium onion chopped (about 1 cup)
    1 package of mushrooms
    1 can of water chestnuts
    2 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar
    4 tablespoons of Oyster sauce
    2 teaspoons of five spice
    3 green onions sliced
1 head of bib or other large leaf lettuce

    Directions:
Heat oil in skillet to very hot. Add chicken and cook until browned (if skillet is not hot enough chicken will stick). Remove chicken and dice/mince. Reduce heat and cook cubed squash, onion, chopped mushrooms in same pan. Return chicken. Drain and slice water chestnuts and add to mixture. Add soy sauce rice wine vinegar, oyster sauce (or hoison) and five spice. Mix to combine. Allow to simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onion before serving.

Serves four. I checked my numbers a few times and it came out to 179 calories per serving and only had 18 carbs!

If anyone uses this recipe I would really appreciate feedback. I am just starting to make up recipes and would love thoughts on them!

I got a great recipe from www.sparkrecipes.com and it had all colors of sliced bellpeppers, mushroooms, spinich, & onions etc... Sautee them all and add some alt meat options then top w Salsa, fat free cheese(much better than it sounds), and fat free sour cream. Its awesome. I never thought fat free abything was good until I tried it. Also fat free means lower in calories.
