The struggle is real : Stress

I have gained about 30 pounds in the last year due to stress. I have recently started working out and tracking on MFP. Both seem to keep me focused on my goal of dropping 40+ pounds. I struggle with making the right choices every day, but know it will be worth it in the end. If I continue to follow. MFP, I should meet my goal in October. It seems like, such a long time away and the stress isn't going anywhere. How do you keep stress eating at bay?

I log the foods before I put them in my mouth to see if there is enough energy left in me to work it off. I also will have a snack now and again, but it's measured and weighed. Find some friends to support you along the way who also know what it's like to have stress. And remind yourself frequently why you started. Don't stress the small stuff, and remember that while working out your body releases endorphins. I like to add an extra mile if I'm super stressed, and I pray and meditate about what is bothering me. If I can't stop it, then how will I let it effect me. Your struggle is real. Just don't let it define you.

Best of luck on your Journey.

I would suggest talking things over with a psychologist or counselor to see if there is some practical way to reduce the stress. Have a deep sense of respect for yourself as a person who is trying to live a good life under difficult circumstances. Give yourself the good quality food that you need and deserve and that will really help you to find strength over this difficult time. Try to have a range of things to support yourself such as time with friends, respect for the way you do your work, time to meditate and pray, time to go for walks and delicious healthy food. That's a lot of ducks to keep in a row but if you aim in that direction you will feed less compulsion to eat badly.
