Just checking measurements here, MFP asks for 8 cups, but what in litres is 8 cups? Also can you drink too much water. I would drink 3-4 litres a day but I exercise 6 out of 7 days. Just started my mfp journey but it keeps my eating on track ,1540 target makes me focused. That leads me to another question,mfp adds on calories so I might eat 1700 on those days, is this ok or should I stick religiously to 1540. Right that's me.

    A 'cup' is a volume measurement in North America - it's about 250ml, so 4 cups is about a litre.

    a standard cup is 8 ounces. sorry. this uneducated american doesnt know metric measurements LOL ;)

    technically yes, you could drink too much but its EXTREMELY unlikely. youll go to the bathroom and get rid of it all anyways

    eat back around half your exercise calories

    About a quarter of a liter. So two liters.

    It is hard to drink too much because to force yourself to do it will make you feel sick. This is too much;
    "drinking 10 to 22 quarts of water over a few hours". A quart is about a liter.

    If MFP gives you more calories, feel free to eat them

    8 fluid ounces.

    Yes, you can drink too much...but you would be hard pressed to actually do so unless you were doing some kind of crazy water drinking competition or something.

    Thx guys, I know the metric system is the work of the devil & the US rightly stay away. You guys are alright even if you do drive on the wrong side of the road. Hill climbs tomorrow -arghh!!
