Who elese cannot stand the taste of water by my 3rd to 4th glass, it makes me want to gag.

Tho nly way I can drink H2o is if it is ice hold.
I also find if I have 1.5 ltr. bottle handy I can drink it faster than if I have an actual glass. Don't know why but it works for me.
And when the 1.5 ltr bottle is done I have done 6 of my 8 daily glasses!!!:smooched:0 -
I JUST CANT DO IT. I HATE WATER AND CANNOT DRINK 8 GLASSES. WILL IT REALLY MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IF I DONT DRINK 8 GLASSES? I HAVE NEVER REALLY DRANK MUCH WATER.

I put Crystal Light on the go packets in mine....33 oz of water only 5 calories....and its yummy...
I drink 66 oz a day.
Walmart sells no calorie packets too at a fairly reasonable price0 -
I can't do it either... never have liked drinking water. I've done better with it in the last year (when I was younger, I wouldn't touch it at all) but I still have days where I just can't drink it.0

try drinking thru a straw.....putting the straw further back on your tongue and just start SUCKING!.... i do this when i'm about on my 5-6 glass for the day just to finsh the rest i need.....(don't drink it all at once tho) u might burst LOL!:laugh:0

The last couple of days I have added Crystal light packets and Decaf green tea. These still counts as H20.0

I ALWAYS use crystal light packets to get my water in. I also use a large water bottle that has oz on it so I know how much i have drank and how much I still need to.0

Do you not drink it because you are out of habit, because you dont like the taste of your tap water, or why? I cannot imagine that you dont like water itslef because actual pure water is tasteless...
What are you drinking instead? If you are on to a lot of sodas or sugary drinks it might be that you are just hooked on the bad stuff?
My husband wont drink water because our tap water is very chlorinated. I keep a gallon in the fridge because ice cold it tastes fine (and dont breathe while you drink
Perhaps (as I know bottled water is expensive...) try a filter?
Some small steps you can take - drink a small amount when you brush your teeth at the end of rinsing (like 1/2 cup), take a long drink every time you go by a water fountain or a water cooler... if you get an extra 1/2 cup here and there and drink 2 cups elsewhere in the day voila! you are at 8 cups!
You can get water through the other beverages. 8 cups of Kool Aid has 8 cups of water... but also about 2-3 cups of sugar! Same for coffee etc. Crystal light is an OK option, but it is not cheap either and I really thinkg that you need to teach yourself to be able to drink plain water so you wont always rely on something in it! (How about lemon juice? That is a cheap easy one! Put ice and lemon in it and drink through a straw and maybe you will feel like you are at a restaurant? )
As for is it important!? Yes! It not only helps to restore your body after a workout, but it helps keep you full (often when you are hungry your brain is actually misinterperting thirst - so next time you have a "not hungry but really want to eat" feeling drink something!). It also helps a lot in digestion. Think of that along the lines of trying to scrub a dry dirty dish with a damp sponge and no water! Soak the dish and the food breaks right down and comes off... Very rough but basic analogy to some of the digestive aids of water.0 -

I posted this in a nother thread about drinking the 8 glasses. have a jug that I got from my last baby, in the hospital they make you drink alot of water after having a baby.. Anyways, it holds 28 oz. I feel it up 3 times in a day so I am actually getting 10.5 cups of water in. The first I put one pack of crystal lite energy to go or the green tea one in there. It gives me a boost of energy.. The rest just cold water. We buy like 2 gallons of water a week, used to buy the 24 pack of bottles but it was too expensive. After the jugs are empty I feel them up with sink water (bleh to much minerals in it from the well) but when you get it really cold you can't tell. Not sure if all of this water is helping or not.. Been doing it for the better part of two weeks.. I actually feel bloated?0 -
I found a new product that I really like: K2O by Special K.
Each packet has 30 calories, with 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. It's artificially sweetened.
The directions say to mix each packet with 16 oz, but I think that mixing it with 24 is optimal.

It may just be the amount of water not the actual taste i realize that water is tasteless
I am on a well, I live in the country. so no chlorine ect ect.
It seems to me just an overwhelming amount to drink in a day and after awhaile i have to say there seems to be a taste to me.
I do not drink to much soda ect as im only looking to lose 10-15 lds of spare baby weight but thanks for that too. I will keep it in mind, i keep my h2o in the fridge and try as best as i can. when hungry or bored drink water.
As for packets to add flavour and calories just not for me. I like to save $ where i can, just like shoveling snow is a great workout to bad thats not on the exercise list ( i use other refrences)

I like water, but some days I have to try harder to drink it. So...I have a glass at my desk and every few minutes I make myself take a fewlarge sips. Next thing I know...the glass is empty and I have to re-fill. Most days I get my full 8 in at work.0

Here are some tips I've put on my website that sometimes make it easier...
Being that I am NOT a doctor, a nutritionist or anyone who claims to know anything. I've found these hints to make drinking water easier and well, enjoyable for myself and I've heard tips similar to these from various weight loss groups, articles, magazines, doctors, etc.
Yes, Drink Your Water. All of it, Everyday!Ways I've found to alleviate the task:
1) Change your water bottle size. If I drink out of the same bottle, then my counting gets stagnant. By mixing it up after a few days, I somehow find it more of a challenge. For example, I was used to drinking out of a 20 ounce bottle. I knew how many I had to drink, and it was easy. When I started to struggle with it again, I swiched to a 40 ounce bottle. I was shocked at how fast and easily I drink it all. Before I knew it, I had already had my daily dose. When I swiched back to the 16.9 ounce bottles, I would damn near drink it all in one gulp. I went through them lifke wildfire. If nothing else it keeps my mind active or something. Works for me.
2) Add Ice/ Drink it hot. Water is water is water. I've had days in my ice-house-cold office that the idea of drinking even room temp water gave me more chills. So I drank hot water. Not only did it warm me up, but it was a different sensation of drinking hot water. I've had the same in the hotter than hell Sacramento Summer days- drinking ice cold water helped cool me down and rejuvinate my sluggish body.
3) Drink one half your body weight in Ounces. I first heard this from a Weight Watchers Leader. I know, when I first heard this, I was flabbergasted...uh, yeah, that's over 120 ounces. I heard it and thought 'uh-uh. your nuts. I'm happy with 64 ounces at the time. I dont need to overachieve'. Then something amazing happened. I had a rough start to a week, and a friend told me to start drinking more. So that first week, I decided to try it, if nothing else, to prove that horrendous amount of water was a hoax. I have never peed so much in my life, but you know what? It worked!! I had a great loss that week! From then on, it occurred to me - how could something that works for someone weighing 130 lbs work for someone who weight 250? So its been proven to myself that it works. The risks, etc. I have also heard about, however, I perosnally have never had a problem with that. But again, I'm not a doctor.
4) Find flavorings that still 'count' as water. I dont do this often, but I do sometimes. While regular plain old water is best, things I've heard that work well- a drop or two of vanilla extract, cinammon extract, mint, etc. Lemon/lime juice of course is always a popular one. I've even heard a packet of splenda works well to simply change the flavor. I often drink the sparkling flavored waters foudn at any grocery store that come in a 33.8 ounce bottle and are fruit flavored. My current favorites are Wal Mart's Wild Cherry and Strawberry. I've always gone by the 'rule' that if a drink has no calories, no sodium, no fat, then it can be used as water- but only half of your daily intake. Some Crystal Light varieties also count as water, but you'd have to check the label for sodium.
5) Make a deal with yourself. I love Sugar free ROCKSTAR energy drinks, maybe more than anything. I'd pop one open the minute I'd get to work, in order to ensure I had a pleasant day. Now, however, I make a deal with myself that If I drink X amount of ounces of water, it is only then I can have my trusty ROCKSTAR.
6) Keep Water with you at all times. Awhile back, I was shopping and my water bottle that I was carrying was an annoyance. I knew I had half the bottle to drink before I was done, so I stopped dead in my tracks, finished the bottle and made a deal with myself that as soon as I drank one more bottle, I'd finish it and throw it away, freeing up my hands for shopping. Which is what I did. I finished my water while shopping! Now had I left the bottle in the car, like I sometimes do, I would not only have not finsihed my water, but also, when I got back to the car, I wouldnt want it, so I'd have put off drinking it even more.0 -
I also find it easier to drink a lot of water if I'm drinking from bottles, rather than glasses.0

Hey FL! Water probably became a necessity for me years ago from 4th grade basketball practice.
I distinctly remember having only 10 secs. to get my water during our break times...and was that water sweet :drinker:
My recommendation is to add some lemon to your water to add some flavor as it tastes kinda cool :laugh:0
